Great Dane LLC has determined that a defect may exist in certain model year 2022 Great Dane Champion Dry Van Trailers, and Great Dane Everest Refrigerated Trailers manufactured in our Statesboro, GA, and Kewanee IL, manufacturing facilities where radius rod mounting bolts were not properly torqued. Trailers within these groups were manufactured using suspensions where the radius rods had not been installed by the suspension supplier. Other trailers have the radius rods installed by the supplier prior to shipping to Great Dane. Improperly torqued radius rod mounting bolts may work loose over time leading to them falling out. This could allow the suspension to shift rearward causing the vehicle to lose control increasing the possibility of a crash. Additionally, loose components may impact other vehicles causing them to lose control increasing the possibility of a crash. It is important to note that no accidents or injuries have been reported so far from the field. Great Dane will continue working with the customer to inspect suspect population and retorque any radius rod mounting bolts that are found inadequately torqued. After inspection and correction, the component will have the proper level of torque. It is estimated that this inspection/repair will take approximately 1hour and will be performed free of charge. If you had this repair performed before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this recall.
