Dear Friends,
As you know, Lakota takes the safety and quality of our trailers very seriously. When ANY issue arises that could potentially compromise safety, it is our policy to use the utmost caution to make sure such issue is remedied as soon as possible.
Therefore, we are conducting a recall on certain model year 2020 – 2024 Charger and Bighorn horse trailers featuring a triple axle and either 5 or 6 stalls.
It was determined that the main rails of axle carrier may have been manufactured with insufficient gauge steel, which may cause the carrier to break, increasing the risk of a crash.
We will be submitting dealer and owner notifications to NHTSA for approval. We expect to begin mailing dealer notifications the week of August 21st and retail notifications the week of August 28th.
Dealer notifications will include a VIN list. Early requests for the VIN list will only delay the process. Please note that our staff is diligently working to submit the required notifications to NHTSA. We can assure you AS SOON AS we complete the VIN list, we will be sending it to you.
Any trailers that do not feature a retail name will be assumed to still remain in your inventory – if any of these trailers have been sold, please provide a warranty registration, so we may contact the affected customers.
Any trailers under this recall, at your facility, MUST BE IMMEDIATELY REMEDIED. As you know, NHTSA can fine a dealer that retail sells a recalled product with an open recall. These fines can be steep, reaching upwards of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00).
If you have ANY questions or concerns, please contact our customer service department at 888-4LAKOTA.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to you or your dealership, and we greatly appreciate your prompt attention to this VERY SERIOUS matter.
All the best,
AJ Schuler
Customer Service Manager, Lakota Trailers
