Pin Box May Separate from Vehicles Causing Crash
Towing while in a different position can cause the upper front structure to break and the pin box to separate from the vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2024 Cardinal and Wildcat Fifth Wheels trailers. The operator may utilize the rear towing hitch without locking the turning point fifth wheel hitch into the “Conventional Transport” position.
Remedy
Dealers will install a warning label to the hitch and rear wall of the vehicle, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 22, 2024. Owners may contact Forest River Customer Service at 1-574-296-7700. Forest River’s number for this recall is 15-1755.

Chronology :
On March 18, 2024, during a routine vendor audit of the manufacturing plant, Lippert Components noticed that a Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch along with a Rear Towing Hitch were installed on certain vehicles in the yard. The manufacturing plant then notified Forest Rivers Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”), OCC opened a research item. The same week, LCI and OCC began research into the concern.
During the weeks of March 25, 2024, and April 1, 2024, research continued, evaluating the use and normal operation of the Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch and Rear Towing Hitch.
On April 4, 2024, OCC received information from Lippert Components indicating that the Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch must be used in the “Conventual Transport” position as referenced in the Owner’s Manual of the Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch when combined with a Rear Towing Hitch.
On April 8, 2024, OCC evaluated the information received from Lippert Components.
On April 12, 2024, Forest Rivers Corporate Recall Committee voted to recall.

2024 CARDINAL AND WILDCAT FIFTH WHEELS
Forest River has decided that a safety defect exists in certain 2024 Cardinal and Wildcat Fifth Wheel Recreational Vehicles. Forest River is recalling the defective model(s) to ensure the safety of our future retail consumers and your dealership. Forest River is issuing a Stop Sale Notice effective immediately.
Please access your Home Page on Dealer Connect to verify if your Dealership has units in stock that are subject to this recall. Enter the Service Campaign number referenced above in the “Campaign Search” field, click on the “Campaign ID Number”. Next, select “MY VINS”. Not all Dealers have units in stock that are affected by this recall.
DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE:
Certain vehicles equipped with a Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch must be used in the “Conventual Transport” position as referenced in the Owner’s Manual of the Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch when combined with a Rear Towing Hitch.
EVALUATION OF RISK:
If the Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch is not locked into the “Conventional Transport” position while underway with an additional trailer hooked to the rear towing hitch, there is an elevated risk to the upper front structure that may break, which may lead to the pin box to separate from the vehicles, which may lead to a crash.
SERVICE PROCEDURE:
Forest River will provide all parts and labor free of charge to Consumers and Dealers. The remedy is to install a Warning Label which will applied to the Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch and to the rear wall of the vehicle. In plain view of an operator. The labels will be sent out to all Dealers and Consumers once they are available. We expect the labels to be available the week of May 6, 2024. A second notice will be issued once the labels are received for mailing.

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Forest River will provide all parts and labor free of charge to Consumers
and Dealers. An authorized Forest River dealer will need to perform the remedy to install a Warning Label which will applied to the Turning Point Fifth-Wheel Hitch and to the rear wall of the vehicle. In plain view of an operator.

Description of Recall Schedule : Forest River has the utmost urgency in our recalls. Forest River will send
suspected VIN numbers to our third party vendor that is licensed to pull data on the current owner of the vehicles (as needed) once a formal NHTSA I.D. is provided. Forest River intends on pushing the mailing out as soon as NHTSA provides any correction(s) and an Acknowledgement Letter.
