When driving on the freeway at 70mph speeds during rush hour, I lost all power to the vehicle causing me to have to immediately pull to the side of the freeway with minimal control of the vehicle. I had to come to a complete stop on the freeway putting myself and others at high risk for a high speed crash. There were no warning lamps just a full system failure. There are recalls on certain VIN numbers for the Denso Low Pressure Fuel Pump and a class action lawsuit settlement that resulted in Customer Support Program 23TE05 but when I called Toyota they said my VIN did not qualify.

I own a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. Mitsubishi's records show that Safety Recall C2204R/SR-22-004 was previously completed on my vehicle. This recall addressed improper CVT-ECU software programming that could cause an incorrect CVT gear-ratio command and potentially result in engine over-rev, engine damage, stalling, and an increased risk of a crash. My vehicle experiences serious and concerning problems following sustained driving at highway speeds. The vehicle begins to sputter and does not operate normally. Multiple dashboard warning lights begin flashing, and the backup camera activates and displays on the screen even though the vehicle is actively traveling forward and has not been placed in reverse. Because of these experiences, I intentionally avoid driving my vehicle for extended periods at higher highway speeds. I am particularly concerned about whether these symptoms could be associated with the CVT, CVT-ECU, vehicle electronics, or the condition previously addressed by Safety Recall C2204R/SR-22-004. The fact that Mitsubishi's records indicate the recall was completed raises additional concern for me about whether the recall remedy remains effective or whether my vehicle is experiencing a related condition. I am requesting that NHTSA document and review this complaint to determine whether my vehicle may be experiencing a recurrence or continuation of the condition addressed by C2204R/SR-22-004, an issue with the effectiveness of the recall remedy, or another safety-related defect. I am especially concerned about the possibility of loss of vehicle performance while traveling at highway speeds and the abnormal activation of the backup camera while the vehicle is moving forward.

Summary
My 2020 Kia Soul 2.0L has developed serious engine problems. The vehicle initially had diagnostic trouble code P0014 and later P000B. The vehicle has also experienced significant oil consumption. A mechanic inspected the vehicle and determined that the engine has sustained damage related to oil consumption and that the engine requires complete replacement. I was previously advised that the issue could involve the camshaft timing/variable valve timing system or cam phaser, but the engine itself needs to be replaced. The vehicle has approximately 113751 miles. I have maintained the vehicle and have documentation showing that I performed regular oil changes in accordance to the user manual. I am concerned about the premature engine failure and the potential safety consequences if the engine loses power or fails while the vehicle is being driven. My VIN currently does not show an applicable recall. I am reporting this problem because I believe the engine failure and oil-consumption issue should be documented and reviewed for a potential safety-related defect or pattern involving this vehicle/engine.
