Summary
The issue with the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta is the steering wheel which appears to be a known issue. A warning light and audible warning tone activate repeatedly while the car is in motion with the alert of "Travel Assist Currently Not Available". The frequency of the alert by tone and alert light is excessive and distracting while driving the car. The issue appears to be from an internal failure in the wheel's capacitive touch hands-detection sensor mat. In my 2022 Jetta, the original wheel at purchase had the exact same issue and was replaced under warranty. The wheel that Volkswagen replaced it with had the same defect, and the problem began occurring again in 2 or less years. Currently the alert begins and continues any moment that I touch any part of the bottom of the steering wheel. I communicated with Volkswagen for help and they indicated this car/VIN does not apply to any technical bulletin for them to do anything about it, but it appears based on my experience that they are knowingly providing and installing steering wheels with this issue that effects the car and driver's attention in motion.

The vehicle was repaired; however, the contact stated that the rumbling sound persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure by telephone. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.

The vehicle reported an error with steering. I brought the vehicle into tesla service. Upon inspection the connector to the steering rack was heavily corroded from water intrusion and had broken clean off upon removal. Confirmed with dealer that corrosion had caused the issue. If the connector had failed while driving the vehicle would have lost all power steering immediately and placed myself and others on the road in danger. The connector was corroded enough that the spade connector detached completely upon inspection. The steering rack is not easily accessible by the consumer and could not have been impacted by circumstances outside of normal driving.

My auto stop engine device would not restart at an intersection and it left me stranded . The truck would not move, and I tried repeatedly to get the truck moving. This has happened several times this year since December 2025. Bravo Honda, Victoria, Texas told me they were not sure what caused the problem, but they said they charged the battery and felt as if this would resolve the issue. The next time I had an issue Bravo Honda replaced the battery and I was told that was the issue. Now this time Bravo Honda, Victoria , Texas has escalated the issue to Honda tech. They have had my truck 2 days and no resolution as yet, although they believe the starter is faulty and needs replacing. This is very dangerous as I have been left stranded in heavy traffic. I feel the mechanic maybe guessing at what is wrong with the truck. The last incident happened on 09/17/2026.
