I was on my way home from work in Texas and after a couple of turns and curves it suddenly just got really hard to steer. I looked down at my cluster in confusion as to what was going on and the steering light was flashing. Luckily for me I decided to take back way home, less traffic. Made it home safely and vehicle hasn't nor is going anywhere untill a solution is avaiable or next step. And truck is available for inspection. All the symbols related ADAS suddenly popped in my car with no rain or snow or any accidents. When I checked with Honda dealership, they said it caused due to software issue and nothing related hardware and it needed 2500$ for replacing the entire system. Summary
In November 2024, I purchased a 2021 Honda HR-V with approximately 65,881 miles from Carvana, which conducted an inspection and found no issues. However, just four months later, while driving on the highway, my vehicle suddenly went into neutral, and all warning lights came on. It was a terrifying experience, as I narrowly avoided a collision with a semi-truck before the car shut off entirely. I was lucky to make it to the side of the road safely. Upon having the car towed to my mechanic, it was discovered that the transmission sensor contained metal shards, indicating an internal transmission failure likely due to a factory defect. This was further confirmed by an authorized Honda dealer, who found that the CVT belt had disintegrated and that this was unrelated to wear and tear. Given the fact that my vehicle was less than four years old with 74,165 miles on it, this is a clear indication of a serious factory defect. My vehicle is part of the battery recall (25S02 and 24S24), which clearly states that affected batteries could swell, fail, or even lead to power loss. That’s exactly what’s happened to mine. The battery in my vehicle is swollen and defective, and now the car won’t start at all. It’s not just an inconvenience, it’s a safety issue. I’ve called several local Ford dealerships trying to get the battery replaced, but none of them have helped me. I’ve also reached out to Ford’s customer service line multiple times, and I’ve been given the runaround every time, told to call a dealer, told it’s not covered, or simply dismissed. Plus, they told me that I should contact the NHTSA to lodge a formal complaint. It’s incredibly frustrating to be stuck like this when there’s an active recall for this exact issue. The battery is visibly swollen, and I’m worried this could become dangerous if it continues to degrade. At this point, I feel like Ford is ignoring its responsibility to fix a known safety defect, and I’m left without a working vehicle, and no clear path forward. Please look into this.
