For all 36LA floorplans, AL9858RC01 for 1.00 hours. Correction Procedure for Drivers Side Front Room 36LA ONLY: Note: Never assume hydraulic pressure is totally relieved when loosening any fittings. Please do so slowly. Safety glasses are recommended for the duration of the procedure. 1. Extend room fully and bump back 1” to 2” to ease pressure on system. 2. Have pan available to catch hydraulic fluid. 3. Remove two 3/4″ nuts (figure 1) from outside of rod end cylinder mount (figure 2) with 1 1/8” wrench. 4. Retract cylinder enough for threaded end of slide cylinder to clear rod end of cylinder mount. 5. Remove remaining 3/4” nuts and hex stop bell (figure 3) with 1 1/8” wrench. 6. Detach hoses (figure 4) from slide cylinders with 11/16” wrench and drain hydraulic fluid. 8. Pull cotter pin from dowel pin at base of slide cylinder. 9. Remove dowel pin from base of slide cylinder. 10. Remove slide cylinders. 11. Attach fittings onto new cylinders with 5/8” wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. Measurements for nuts should be as follows: a. 3” from threaded end of cylinder to first of two nuts side of rod end cylinder mount. (Figure 7) b. 8” from threaded end of cylinder to far side of hex stop bell (figure 8). Secure in place with 3/4 nut with a 1 1/8” wrench. (See image below) 13. Attach hoses to cylinders with 11/16” wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. 14. Attach new cylinders to base end cylinder mount with dowel and cotter pins. Activate room cylinders from inside of coach, while one person on each cylinder guides threaded end of cylinder through rod end cylinder mount. Extend both cylinders until 3/4 nuts are against rod end cylinder mount. 16. Place remaining two 3/4″ nuts on threaded end of cylinder and tighten against rod end cylinder mount with 1 1/8” wrench. 17. Extend room, and adjust 3/4” nuts and hex stop bell as needed to ensure room seals. 18. Add hydraulic fluid to tank as needed. 19. Cycle hydraulic leveling jacks and rooms to purge air out of system.

In compartment with transfer box (first box behind rear axle on driver side), remove access panel (figure 1) from top of box. Take care when removing access panel. It is secured to box with sealant, and will need to be carefully pried away from box with flat head screwdriver. (see figures 2) Figure 1: Access Panel Page 2 of 5 2. Extend room fully and bump back 1″ to 2″ to ease pressure on the system. 3. Have pan available to catch hydraulic fluid. 4. Remove two 3/4″ nuts (figure 3) from outside of rod end cylinder mount (figure 4) with 1 1/8” wrench. 5. Retract cylinder enough for threaded end of slide cylinder to clear rod end of cylinder mount. 6. Remove remaining 3/4″ nuts and hex stop bell (figure 5) with 1 1/8” wrench. 7. Detach hoses (figure 6) from slide cylinders with 11/16” wrench and drain hydraulic fluid. 9. Pull cotter pin (figure 7) from dowel pin (figure 8) at base of slide cylinders. 10. Remove dowel pin (figure 8) from base of slide cylinders. 11. Remove slide cylinders. 12. Attach fittings onto new cylinders with 5/8” inch wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. Measurements for nuts should be as follows: a. 3” from threaded end of cylinder to first of two nuts side of rod end cylinder mount (figure 9). b. 8” from threaded end of cylinder to far side of hex stop bell (figure 10). Secure in place with 3/4 nut with a 1 1/8” wrench. (See image below) 14. Attach hoses to cylinders with 11/16” wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. 15. Attach new cylinders with dowel and cotter pins. 16. Activate room cylinders from inside of coach, while one person on each cylinder guides threaded end of cylinder through rod end cylinder mount. Extend both cylinders until 3/4″ nuts are against rod end cylinder mount. 17. Place remaining two 3/4″ nuts on threaded end of cylinder and tighten against rod end cylinder mount with 1 1/8” wrench. 18. After cylinders have been replaced, install access panel in top of compartment box. 20. Add hydraulic fluid to tank as needed. 21. Cycle hydraulic leveling jacks and rooms to purge air out of system.

Please do so slowly. Safety glasses are recommended for the duration of the procedure. To repair Driver’s Side Front Room 1. Extend room fully and bump back 1” to 2” to ease pressure on system. 2. Have pan available to catch hydraulic fluid. 3. Remove two 3/4″ nuts (figure 1) from outside of rod end cylinder mount (figure 2) with 1 1/8” wrench and plyers if needed. 4. Retract cylinder enough for threaded end of slide cylinder to clear rod end of cylinder mount. 5. Remove remaining 3/4” nuts and hex stop bell (figure 3) with 1 1/8” wrench. Detach hoses (figure 4) from slide cylinders with 11/16” wrench and drain hydraulic fluid. 8. Pull cotter pin (figure 5) from dowel pin (figure 6) at base of slide cylinder. 9. Remove dowel pin (figure 6) from base of slide cylinder. **NOTE: to have access to the rear slide on driver’s side for the removal process, worker must remove sewer panel shown below using Phillips head screwdriver, hose cutters, buzz saw, and 7/16” wrench. Removed the two doors directly in front of fender 11. The jamb metal and shocks can be removed for clearance of the tank 12. Sewer board can now be removed. This will take a Phillips head screwdriver to remove all screws along the outside edge and any individual components. Next will have to unhook the pump switch wires and using a 7/16” wrench the cable tripod can be unattached. Trim wires on back of sewer board with enough slack to reattach for reinstallation: NOTE: The “City Water Connection” may leak, so tape up any exposed wire for safety Page 4 of 7 13. Once the lines and tank are exposed the pump at the bottom right of cargo area can be unscrew with Phillips head along with the tank braces on the sides of the compartment. 14. The lines in red, blue (hot and cold) and soft lines will then need to be cut out. The hose connected to the top left of the tank can be unscrewed and removed from the tank without cutting. 15. The pipe at the bottom of the tank sticking below the compartment itself will have to be trimmed at least an inch to be turned in a position that will allow the tank to be removed. Page 5 of 7 16. The soft lines on top of the tank will then need to be removed but unscrewing or cutting the clamps off allows the lines to be pulled freely from their attachments. 17. The tank should be able to slide out of the compartment and able to access the slide cylinders 18. Remove slide cylinders. 19. Attach fittings onto new cylinders with 5/8” wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. Page 6 of 7 20. Place three 3/4 nuts that will be inside of rod end cylinder mount on threaded end of cylinder. Measurements for nuts should be as follows: a. 3” from threaded end of cylinder to first of two nuts side of rod end cylinder mount. (Figure 7) b. 8” from threaded end of cylinder to far side of hex stop bell (figure 8). Secure in place with 3/4 nut with a 1 1/8” wrench. (See image below) 21. Attach hoses to cylinders with 11/16” wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. 22. Attach new cylinders to base end cylinder mount with dowel and cotter pins. Activate room cylinders from inside of coach, while one person on each cylinder guides threaded end of cylinder through bracket on underside of inside board. Extend both cylinders until 3/4 nuts are against bracket on underside of inside board. 24. Place remaining two 3/4″ nuts on threaded end of cylinder and tighten against rod end cylinder mount with 1 1/8” wrench. 25. Extend room and adjust 3/4″ nuts and hex stop bell as needed to ensure room seals. Passenger Side Front Room 1. Extend room fully and bump back to ease pressure on system. 2. Repeat steps listed above to replace cylinders. 3. Add hydraulic fluid to tank as needed. 4. Cycle hydraulic leveling jacks and rooms to purge air out of system.

For all 32FA floorplans, AL9858RC01 for 1.00 hours. Correction Procedure for Drivers Side Front Room 32FA ONLY: Note: Never assume hydraulic pressure is totally relieved when loosening any fittings. Please do so slowly. Safety glasses are recommended for the duration of the procedure. 1. Extend room fully and bump back 1” to 2” to ease pressure on system. 2. Have pan available to catch hydraulic fluid. 3. Remove two 3/4″ nuts (figure 1) from outside of rod end cylinder mount (figure 2) with 1 1/8” wrench. 4. Retract cylinder enough for threaded end of slide cylinder to clear rod end of cylinder mount. 5. Remove remaining 3/4” nuts and hex stop bell (figure 3) with 1 1/8” wrench. 6. Detach hoses (figure 4) from slide cylinders with 11/16” wrench and drain hydraulic fluid. 8. Pull cotter pin (figure 5) from dowel pin (figure 6) at base of slide cylinder. 9. Remove dowel pin (figure 6) from base of slide cylinder. 10. Remove slide cylinders. 11. Attach fittings onto new cylinders with 5/8” wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. Measurements for nuts should be as follows: a. 3” from threaded end of cylinder to first of two nuts side of rod end cylinder mount. (Figure 7) b. 8” from threaded end of cylinder to far side of hex stop bell (figure 8). Secure in place with 3/4 nut with a 1 1/8” wrench. (See image below) 13. Attach hoses to cylinders with 11/16” wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. 14. Attach new cylinders to base end cylinder mount with dowel and cotter pins. Activate room cylinders from inside of coach, while one person on each cylinder guides threaded end of cylinder through rod end cylinder mount. Extend both cylinders until 3/4 nuts are against rod end cylinder mount. 16. Place remaining two 3/4″ nuts on threaded end of cylinder and tighten against rod end cylinder mount with 1 1/8” wrench. 17. Extend room, and adjust 3/4” nuts and hex stop bell as needed to ensure room seals. 18. Add hydraulic fluid to tank as needed. 19. Cycle hydraulic leveling jacks and rooms to purge air out of system.

Inspection Procedure for 34PA floorplans ONLY: Please inspect the slide out system to confirm that an LCI slide out system is installed. The slide out system can be verified by checking the brand listed on the control panel inside of the motorhome. If there is an LCI slide system installed, please proceed with the repair instructions. If there is an HWH slide system installed, there is no work that need to be done. The HWH slide systems are not involved in the recall. Please file a warranty claim with Tiffin Motorhomes for the inspection so the recall can be cleared. Correction Procedure for 34PA ONLY: Note: Never assume hydraulic pressure is totally relieved when loosening any fittings. Please do so slowly. Safety glasses are recommended for the duration of the procedure. To repair Driver’s Side Front Room 1. Extend room fully and bump back 1” to 2” to ease pressure on system. 2. Remove hex bolts (figure 9) from enclosure located at front side of rear wheel well with 7/16” socket. Take care when removing access panel. It is secured to enclosure with sealant and will need to be carefully pried away from enclosure. 3. Repeat steps listed above to replace cylinders. 4. After passenger side cylinders are replaced, check alignment of bolt holes in access panel and clip nuts on enclosure, and bolt access panel to enclosure. Figure 9: Hex bolts Page 6 of 6 5. Extend room and adjust 3/4″ nuts and hex stop bell as needed to ensure room seals. Passenger Side Front Room 1. Extend room fully and bump back to ease pressure on system. 2. Repeat steps listed above to replace cylinders. 3. Add hydraulic fluid to tank as needed. 4. Cycle hydraulic leveling jacks and rooms to purge air out of system.

Retract cylinder enough for threaded end of slide cylinder to clear rod end of cylinder mount. 6. Remove remaining 3/4″ nuts and hex stop bell (figure 5) with 1 1/8” wrench. 7. Detach hoses (figure 6) from slide cylinders with 11/16” wrench and drain hydraulic fluid. 9. Pull cotter pin (figure 7) from dowel pin (figure 8) at base of slide cylinders. 10. Remove dowel pin (figure 8) from base of slide cylinders. 11. Remove slide cylinders. 12. Attach fittings onto new cylinders with 5/8” inch wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. Measurements for nuts should be as follows: a. 3” from threaded end of cylinder to first of two nuts side of rod end cylinder mount (figure 9). b. 8” from threaded end of cylinder to far side of hex stop bell (figure 10). Secure in place with 3/4 nut with a 1 1/8” wrench. (See image below) 14. Attach hoses to cylinders with 11/16” wrench. Tighten until snug, and then another 1/4 turn. 15. Attach new cylinders with dowel and cotter pins. 16. Activate room cylinders from inside of coach, while one person on each cylinder guides threaded end of cylinder through rod end cylinder mount. Extend both cylinders until 3/4″ nuts are against rod end cylinder mount. 17. Place remaining two 3/4″ nuts on threaded end of cylinder and tighten against rod end cylinder mount with 1 1/8” wrench. 18. When this happens, it allows the slide room to extend out until the cylinder’s pressure equalizes. In this situation, the slide room extension is more than the permitted relaxation tolerance of 1/2″-1″. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : Due to the equalization of the hydraulic cylinder pressure, the slide may extend out 6-8″ which is above the ordinary relaxation tolerance of 1/2″-1″. This will increase the width of the vehicle which can result in a crash with another oncoming vehicle. Description of the Cause : The inner seal of the 1 1/4″ hydraulic slide room cylinder is inadequate to maintain pressure inside of the cylinder. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : The sidewall slide may extend past the normal 1″ allowance for relaxation of the slide system. Address : 3501 C.R. 6 Elkhart Indiana 46514 Country : United States Chronology : 3/18/2022 Customer notified Tiffin that their slide room had extended out 6″-8″ after just having repairs performed at the factory. 3/20/2022 Tiffin made contact with Lippert Components to discuss concern. 3/23/2022 Conference call with various individuals from Lippert and Tiffin. Lippert determined after testing, that there was a problem with the seal compression in the 1 1/4″ cylinders. 3/29/2022 Tiffin was made aware of the Facebook group “Tiffin Lippert Allegro Open Road Hydraulic Slide Problems”. 3/29/2022 Tiffin received the first VOQ regarding “creeping slide” 4/4/2022 Lippert sent us a new 1 1/4″ cylinder with an improved seal package to install in the above customer’s coach. 4/14/2022 Conference call with various individuals from Lippert and Tiffin. New cylinder installed in the customer’s coach has held and no further unintended extension. Lippert has a new cylinders that they are ready to supply to Tiffin for production coaches as well as field coaches. 4/18/2022 Tiffin Safety Committee voted to recall. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : Tiffin Motorhomes will replace the cylinder in all coaches included in the recall population. This will be done at no charge to the owners. If owners have paid for any repairs related to this recall, they can submit the invoice to Tiffin Motorhomes for reimbursement. The vendor of the hydraulic cylinder has implemented additional steps in their quality control and testing processes to ensure the components used to build the cylinder are maintaining the needed piston seal pressure. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : As of 4/15/2022, all motorhomes built will have the cylinder with a manufacture date after 3/1/2022. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Tiffin will send letters to customers and dealers that are in possession of coaches explaining the problem and asking them to take the motorhome to the dealer for proper inspection and/or repair at no cost to them. New cylinder installed in the customer’s coach has held and no further unintended extension. Lippert has a new cylinders that they are ready to supply to Tiffin for production coaches as well as field coaches. 4/18/2022 Tiffin Safety Committee voted to recall. 8/17/2022 Compliance was made aware that the new model, the Allegro Bay, also uses the 1/4″ slide cylinder. 8/18/2022 Inspected all Allegro Bays on Tiffin’s complex and found two (2) Allegro Bay coaches with defective date ranges of the 1/4″ slide cylinder. 8/22/2022 Tiffin Safety Committee voted to recall. 8/23/2022 Finalized scope of 2022 Allegro Bay’s based on build dates & ship dates.
