Summary
Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2022 White hawk travel trailers, equipped with a 50-amp shore power inlet. The power inlet lug bolts may have been manufactured with excessively hard metal, preventing them from being tightened properly and resulting in a loose wiring connection.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the power inlet, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 20, 2022. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco’s number for this recall is 9901575.

Unit serial number and 50 amp shore power inlet INSPECTION
1) Verify in Jayco partners if the unit serial number is part of the recall scope. All affected units in the recall scope with 50 amp shore power inlets require this remedy. Proceed to step 1 in the Instructions for replacement of the 50 amp shore power inlet.
REPLACING 50 AMP SHORE POWER INLET INSTRUCTIONS
1) Make sure the unit is unplugged and the power is turned off to the inlet at the breaker box.
2) Remove the 4 screws (save for reinstallation) from the inlet from the trailer wall with a Phillips screwdriver. (Figure 1)
3) Pull the inlet out of the wall (Figure 2A) and loosen the nut that clamps the wire on the back of the inlet. (Circled in Figure 2B)
4) Open the lid on the front of the inlet and unscrew the two screws inside with #2 square bit driver (Red Arrows in Figure 3)
5) Remove the rear safety enclosure from the inlet. (See Figure 4)
6) Loosen the lug nuts with a Phillips torque screwdriver and disconnect the wires from the inlet.
7) Connect wires to the replacement 50A inlet and be sure to tighten terminal screws to 20 in.-lbs. torque with Phillips torque screwdriver (Figure 5) and screw inlet back onto trailer wall.
Correct wiring:
a. Red to Red
b. White to White
c. Ground to Green
d. Black to Black

Chronology :
On March 7, 2022 David Mihalick of Thor Industries emailed Jayco informing us that Patrick Industries alerted him to an issue with 50 Amp shore power inlets. The next day, Jayco received a copy of an email from Patrick industries providing details on shipments of suspect product to Jayco. All units affected on premises were placed on hold and repaired with the recall remedy.
On March 9, 2022 this incident was discussed at WIRC and elevated to CPAC.
On March 16, 2022 this incident was discussed at CPAC and elevated to SSC.
On March 24, 2022 SSC discussed this incident and voted to proceed with a recall.
