Front Trim Strip May Be Missing from Refrigerator
Without the front trim strip, carbon monoxide or flammable unburned Liquid Petroleum (LP) gases may migrate into the living quarters of the travel trailer, increasing the risk of fire or carbon monoxide poisoning causing occupant injury.

Summary
Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. (Gulf Stream) is recalling certain 2020 Enlighten 25BH and 248BH travel trailers. The lower front trim strip may be missing from the refrigerator. The front strip is required to make the refrigerator cabinet seal complete, and provides complete isolation of the combustion system from the travel trailer interior.
Remedy
Gulf Stream will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the trailers and verify that the seal at the bottom of the refrigerator cabinet is installed properly, free of charge. The recall began September 23, 2020. Owners may contact Gulf Stream customer service at 1-800-289-8787. Gulf Stream’s number for this recall is 08282020.

RECALL 20V531 SUPPLEMENTAL WORK INSTRUCTIONS
Refrigerator Lower Trim Strip
1. WARNING: FIRE OR EXPLOSION HAZARD Failure to obey the following warnings could result in property damage, serious injury, or death. Turn off LP Gas supply at LP gas bottle.
2. Remove exterior refrigerator sidewall vent to access refrigerator 12 volt power supply and LP gas line connection to refrigerator.
3. Remove two number eight washer head screws from stabilizing brackets located at the bottom rear of the refrigerator. Retain for use during reinstallation.
4. WARNING: To avoid possible shorting of 12 volt power supply to refrigerator, remove positive 12 volt supply wire from refrigerator electrical connection block and cap bare end or tape end with black electrical tape. Remove 12 volt negative wire from refrigerator connection block.
5. WARNING: Make sure there is no spark producing devises in the immediate area of the LP gas line connection to the refrigerator. [Do Not Smoke during this procedure] Always use two wrenches to hold the valve and flare nut when loosening and tightening gas connections. Use standard 13/16” and 5/8”open end wrenches to loosen and remove LP connection from refrigerator gas valve.
6. From the interior of the trailer, remove and retain the mounting screws from the refrigerator mounting flange at the cabinet face frame. The refrigerator is now ready to be removed from the cabinet.
7. Slide the refrigerator out of the cabinet far enough to access the Trim Strip which is secured with a plastic wire tie in its original shipping location on the cooling unit of the refrigerator. Once removed, the refrigerator should slid back into the cabinet for reinstalling.
8. The objective in verifying proper seals is to prevent any migration of unburned LP gas or carbon monoxide from entering the living area of the trailer.
9. Proceed to Reinstalling the refrigerator per the instructions below [1-14]
Reinstalling Refrigerator:
1. Reinstall or reposition the fiberglass batten insulation between the sides and top of refrigerator enclosure. Do NOT allow insulation to come into contact with the cooling unit of the refrigerator.
2. Cut the insulation two or three inches shorter than the depth of the enclosure.
3. Secure the insulation to the enclosure walls and ceiling. This will prevent it from shifting when the refrigerator is installed.
4. Install refrigerator back into enclosure.
5. Make sure foam tape mounted on back side of refrigerator mounting flange is in place and has not been damaged or missing when originally removed from cabinet. Reposition foam tape or replace if necessary.
6. Replace face frame mounting screws through refrigerator mounting flange into cabinet front.
7. From the exterior sidewall vent, reinstall two number eight washer head screws into stabilizing brackets located at the bottom rear of the refrigerator. [Removed during step (3) three]
8. Install the lower Trim Strip per the installation manual instructions previously mailed with this recall.
9. Reconnect LP gas line to refrigerator gas valve using wrenches identified in step (5) five.
10. DO NOT USE SEALANT COMPOUND ON GAS LINE FLARE CONNECTION.
11. TESTING GAS LINE CONNECTION
12. NEVER USE AN OPEN FLAME TO CHECK FOR GAS LEAKS. USE COMMERCIAL LEAK DETECTION SOLUTION TO CHECK GAS LINE CONNECTION TO REFRIGERATOR.
13. When testing gas supply system at test pressures, use of a ½ pound pressure gauge or monometer drop test gauge should be utilized. The ½ pound test must hold for a minimum of (10) ten minutes. If a Monometer test gauge is used in lieu of the ½ pound test, follow the instructions provide with the devise for pressure testing gas system. NOTE regulated LP gas pressure should not exceed (11) eleven inches of water column.
14. Complete reinstallation of refrigerator by connecting the 12 volt power supply first, then the negative wire to electrical connection block located at the back of refrigerator. [Reverse step (4) four.
7. INSTALLING REFRIGERATOR IN ENCLOSURE
NOTE: DO NOT install the appliance directly on carpeting. Carpeting must be removed or protected by a metal or wood panel beneath the appliance, which extends at least the full width and depth of the appliance.
Any space between the counter, storage area or ceiling can trap heat produced at the rear of the refrigerator. Any space between the top and sides of the refrigerator should be blocked for maximum refrigerator performance.
CONDENSATE WATER DRAIN HOSE: A 3/4″ hole must be drilled through the flooring in the opening of the base plate on the rear of refrigerator (see FIG. 5D). The installer must make sure that the hose does not kink when run through the floor. Seal around the hose where it goes through the hole. If a longer hose is required, follow the illustration shown below:
OPTION A:
1) Remove black water check valve from hose.
2) Add additional hose
3) Reinstall black water check valve
OPTION B:
1) Cut drain hose at location shown below.
2) Install new drain hose between pieces cut.
NOTE: Black water check valve must be reinstalled to ensure proper refrigerator operation. DO NOT KINK HOSE.
OPTION C:
In vehicles where routing the drain hose through the floor is not possible, a metal clip is available. The clip is used to drain water out through the side vent.

INSTALLATION: The refrigerator must be installed in a substantial enclosure and must be level. When installing the refrigerator in the enclosure, all areas within the recess in which the refrigerator is installed must be sealed. Make sure that there is a complete seal between the front frame of the refrigerator and the top, sides and bottom of the enclosure. A length of sealing strip is applied to the rear surface of the front frame for this purpose. Also apply a sealing strip to the foremost floor of the enclosure and apply a second sealing strip to the bottom of the trim strip on the front base as shown in FIG. 4. The sealing should provide complete isolation of the appliance’s combustion system from the vehicle interior.
A wood strip must be in place across the upper opening of the enclosure. The top frame of the refrigerator will be anchored to the wood strip with screws. See FIG. 2. The dimensions shown in FIG. 3 will give you adequate space for service and proper installation.
NOTE: If the door is hinged and it needs be changed to the opposite side, it must be done before the refrigerator is installed in the enclosure. See Step. 13.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the sealing strip applied to the floor of the enclosure when the refrigerator is put in place.
The refrigerator is secured in the enclosure with six screws. They must be installed in the following order:
a. First: Two screws are installed in front decoration strip and through the front base.
1) The front strip is to be installed after the refrigerator is set into the alcove. The strip is shipped as a loose part.
2) Install the lower front strip by sliding it under the bottom hinge plate as shown in FIG. 5. The hinge plate can be on the right or left side depending on the door swing.

Failure to provide adequate seals to the refrigerator compartment thus isolating the refrigerator compartment from the living area of the travel trailer may increase the risk of fire, or carbon monoxide poisoning causing injury or death to occupants and/ or damage to property.
All identified travel trailers subject to this Recall are required to be inspected and verified for proper seal at the bottom of the refrigerator cabinet and if necessary, installing the (front strip) without charge, according to the work instructions provided to the selling dealer or repair facility of your preference. Completing this recall which will take approximately .5 hours.
If you have changed your address or sold the vehicle please complete and return the enclosed prepaid postcard so that we can update our records. The information you provide on the returned postcard will be used to notify the new owner about this safety compliance recall. If you do not know the VIN number, please provide the vehicle serial number and your name so that we can properly identify the vehicle.
Federal Regulations require any lessor receiving this letter to forward it to the lessee within 10 days.
If you paid to remedy the issue addressed in this notice, you may be eligible for reimbursement. Please provide the paid invoice to an authorized dealer or directly to Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. at P.O. Box 1005, Nappanee, IN 46550, attention: Service Department.

If you are leasing the vehicle, you must forward this notice and any subsequent notices to the lessee within 10 working days.
If the vehicle covered by this Safety Recall Notice is no longer in inventory, please provide the contact information for the new owner by calling Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. at (800) 482-6456 and request to speak with the Recall Dept. or a Service Representative.
