Summary
Halcore Group, Inc. (Halcore) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Horton Emergency Vehicles Type I and Type III ambulances. The A/C input power cord for the Sensata inverter may be undersized for certain inverter applications, possibly resulting in an electrical short circuit.
Remedy
Halcore has notified owners, instructing them to contact Sensata for a replacement power cord, free of charge. The recall began March 10, 2020. Owners may contact Halcore customer service at 1-800-447-0343.

Dear Horton Emergency Vehicle Ambulance Owner,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Horton has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 20162020 Horton Emergency Vehicles Type I and Type III ambulances built with Sensata’s Magnum Energy MM1212-G, MMS1012-G or MMA/MMSA Series Inverters. This may affect vehicles manufactured between October 28, 2016 and March 4, 2019. Our records indicate that your ambulance may be equipped with Sensata’s Magnum Energy Series Inverters within this particular date range.
WHAT IS BEING RECALLED?
Certain Horton ambulances built with Sensata’s Mangum Energy MM1212-G, MMS1012-G or
MMA/MMSA Series Inverter sold between October 28, 2016 and March 4, 2019. Horton Units delivered from June 23, 2017 to November 20, 2019 could potentially be affected. Part numbers MM1212-G, MMS1012-G, MMSA1012 and MMA1212.

WHY IS IT BEING RECALLED?
Horton Emergency Vehicles has received independent reports that between 2009 and 2018, certain models of the MM/MMS Series and MMA/MMSA Series inverters were manufactured with an AC input power cord that could be undersized for certain inverter applications. In these applications and with heavy use overtime, a short circuit may develop within the AC input power cord and, as a result, create the risk of fire and/or shock hazard. When the inverter charges the inverter battery bank and powers the downstream inverter loads at the same time over a long period of time, a safety risk may occur.
WHAT YOU AS THE OWNER/OPERATOR SHOULD DO:
Review your inverter use, if it is used to charge the inverter battery bank and power downstream inverter loads at the same time, then inspect your inverter. If it has a GFCI and power cord and if its serial number is within the serial number range referenced above, it should be replaced. Once serial number has been identified, or you have questions, you can contact Sensata’s Technical Support team for Magnum products at 425-353-8833, option #1 (7AM to 5PM PST Monday – Friday) who then will provide RMA for replacement, repair or credit. Replacement parts are now available. Sensata dealers will replace the power cord, free of charge. The estimated time to complete repair will be 1 hour.
