Summary
CHTC Bus Group (CHTC) is recalling certain 2016-2018 HT-35 and HT-45 buses equipped with ADA wheel chair platform lifts. The lift devices have not completed the compliance certification process. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) numbers 403, “Platform Lift Devices” and 404, “Platform Lift Installations.”
Remedy
CHTC has removed the non-compliant wheelchair platform lifts, thereby remedying all of the affected vehicles. Owner letters will not be sent. The recall began February 19, 2020. Owners may contact CHTC customer service at 1-909-993-0858.

- Turn off main power of lifter: According panel location of following, turn switch to “0” position.
- Lock manual handrail: Be sure Handle is place and locks in latched position.
- Lock ADA Door: Use compartment doors key to lock ADA door.

This is a notice letter regarding to FMVSS 403, wheel chair platform lifter1, which compliance is Under processing.
CHTC bus VIN: equipped Hidral Gobel wheel chair platform lifter is now official confirmed not yet to compliance.
Per previous discussion, please stop any usage of the platform li1fter immediately, and follow our instruction
to disable the platform lifter to prevent further operation.
CHTC Bus Group will inform a1n update on classification to compliance and/or an available retrofit.
