Incorrect GVWR Label on Trailer Brake Actuator
An overloaded trailer brake actuator can increase the risk of a crash.

Summary
McClain Trailers Inc. (McClain Trailers) is recalling certain 2024 10K, 12K, 15K, and 18K boat trailers. The Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) listed on the trailer brake actuator is incorrect, which can allow it to become overloaded.
Remedy
McClain Trailers will mail corrected labels to owners, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 28, 2024. Owners may contact McClain Trailers customer service at 1-713-675-2761.

Chronology :
1/9/2024 – Lippert Engineering performed testing on the label rating.
1/25/2024 Lippert sent surge brake actuator to testing company for analysis. Results from independent testing company determined that the max rating should 19K.
2/9/2024 – Investigation of component completed. Set date to meet with the Safety Committee.
2/21/2024 – Safety Committee reviewed the information and concluded that the data reviewed indicated a unanimous vote for a voluntary recall. Investigation continued for to determine affected unit range.
2/26/2024 – Investigation concluded, range completed.
