L iPPERT. AXLE SPINDLE WELD INSPECTION
Axles
31, 2024
Purpose
This document outlines how to perform an inspection of spindle weld locations on Lippert axles using a
weld gauge. Due to a manufact uring error, the weld joining the spindle to the main beam of axle may not
be properly placed, which could result in improper weld penetration or an otherwise deficient weld.
Inspect the axle using the provided weld gauge, if the locat ion is correct, no further act ion is needed.
If the location is incorrect (at any point around the f ull ci rcumference of the weld), the axle will need to be
replaced.
Safety
This document provides general instructions. Many variables can change the circumstances of any
procedure, i.e. the degree of difficulty involved in the service operation and the ability level of the individual
performing the operation. This document cannot begin to plot out procedures for every possibility, but will
provide the general inst ructions for effectively inst all ing, removing or servicing the system. In the event the
skill level required is too advanced or the procedure too difficult, a certified technician should be consulted
before performing the necessary operat ion. Failure to correctly inst all, remove or service the system may
result in voiding the warranty, inflicting injury or even death.
