SAFETY RECALL ACTION NOTICE 611 – ROCKET 3
Triumph Motorcycles has initiated a voluntary safety recall affecting a specific VIN range of the below-referenced model. We require your immediate attention to rectify the below machines. Full details are specified in SRAN661 document.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
A small number of motorcycles within the affected VIN range have been parked or stored for long periods of time may demonstrate noticeably increased rear brake pedal travel than that previously experienced prior to storage. In the event of an affected motorcycle being stored, the rear brake pedal must be depressed over a greater distance than prior to storage before the brake engages. A small number of motorcycles that are used regularly may also demonstrate smaller increases in brake pedal travel. Once engaged, rear brake performance is unaffected. Note: Front brakes are not
affected and will remain fully functional.
On unrepaired affected motorcycles, where pre-ride safety checks have not been completed, this increased pedal travel can increase the risk of a crash.
WHAT WILL TRIUMPH DO?
To address this condition, Triumph is launching a new recall as described in the above Safety Recall Action Notice.
All arrangements for updating of our computer systems have been completed.
Notification letters to current customers will be mailed on or shortly after November 15th, 2023 explaining the action and advising them to return their bike to a Triumph dealer to have the modification carried out free of charge.
The bulletin states that the Rear Brake master cylinder needs to be replaced for the affected VINS.
Each dealer will receive the necessary service tool, T3880885 – Brake line fixture, to carry out the repair.
WHAT SHOULD DEALERS DO?
All affected motorcycles are to be repaired in accordance with the above Safety Recall Action Notice available on TriumphOnline.net (TOL) and attached.

Road Test WARNING When riding the motorcycle the rider must always wear a safety helmet, eye protection, gloves, boots, trousers (close fitting around the knee and ankle) and a brightly coloured jacket. Brightly coloured clothing will considerably increase a rider’s visibility to other operators of road vehicles. Although full protection is not possible, wearing correct protective clothing can reduce the risk of serious injury or death when riding. 1. Carry out a road test. When applying the brakes observe the following: • The brakes should have a firm, responsive feel. • The brakes should act smoothly and silently without judder. • Upon activation of the brakes, the motorcycle should come to rest without deviating from a straight line. 2. If required, rectify any faults discovered after the brake test.

Front brakes are not affected and will remain fully functional. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : If this condition remains undetected and pre-ride safety checks are not carried out by the rider as recommended by Triumph, a rider who relies soley on the rear brake may experience extended stopping distances, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. Description of the Cause : The OEM 12.7mm rear brake master cylinder (Triumph part number T2021988) as originally fitted to the Triumph Rocket 3 family motorcycles from VIN 971477 is unable to move sufficient fluid consistently over a set distance, once micro air (that is naturally present and dissolved in all brake fluid) coalesces over time into bubbles. Bubbles reduce fluid movement over the complete brake line. Incidence of air bubbles will present the symptom of a gradually increasing rear brake pedal travel. Increased pedal travel will not occur over a single journey but will take several weeks or months to manifest. Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-730 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 The remedy 14.0mm rear brake master cylinder (2025444) overcomes this symptom. The larger diameter master cylinder displaces a higher volume of brake fluid, thereby overcoming the influence of any air bubbles that may have formed in the brake line. Identification of Any Warning that can Occur : Recommended daily pre-ride safety checks, as included in the Owner Handbook supplied with all new motorcycles, will warn the rider of any increase in rear brake pedal travel. Riders of average experience and competence will become aware that the rear brake pedal travel has increased prior to feeling the brake engage. Triumph Motorcycles America Ltd. 100 Hartsfield Centre Parkway Suite 200 Atlanta, Georgia 30354 17 November 2023 REAR BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER REPLACEMENT Safety Recall: SRAN611 NHTSA Recall: 23V730 This notice applies to your motorcycle: VIN: SMTXXXX Model: (2020) Rocket 3 TFC (2020 – 2024) Rocket 3 GT & Rocket 3 R (2022) Rocket 3 GT Triple Black & Rocket 3 R Black Dear [NAME]: This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Triumph Motorcycles Ltd. has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in your motorcycle, with the VIN shown above. Triumph is conducting a voluntary safety recall to address the condition. The reason for this recall notice: Motorcycles within the affected VIN range that have been parked or stored for long periods of time may demonstrate noticeably increased rear brake pedal travel than that previously experienced prior to storage. In the event of an affected motorcycle being stored, the rear brake pedal must be depressed over a greater distance than prior to storage before the brake engages. Some motorcycles that are used regularly may also demonstrate smaller increases in brake pedal travel. Once engaged, rear brake performance is unaffected. Note: Front brakes are not affected and will remain fully functional. On unrepaired affected motorcycles, where pre-ride safety checks have not been completed, this increased pedal travel can increase the risk of a crash. Recommended daily pre-ride safety checks will warn the rider of any increase in brake pedal travel. Once repaired (as per NHTSA Recall 23V730, further issues will be prevented by adhering to the Triumph recommended service schedule and pre-ride safety check. See table below.
