Hoist Rings Assembled Incorrectly
Hinge pin separation from the hoist ring can result in hoist ring failure and increase the risk of injury.

Summary
Spartan Fire, LLC (Spartan Fire) is recalling certain 2018-2019, 2021 Gladiator and 2020 MetroStar emergency vehicles. The rope rescue anchor point (hoist ring) may have been improperly assembled, which can allow a hinge pin to separate from the ring.
Remedy
Dealers will inspect and replace the hoist rings, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 17, 2023. Owners may contact Spartan Fire customer service at 1-517-543-640. Spartan Fire’s number for this recall is 23011.

Chronology :
On May 12, 2023 – Spartan Fire received communication from the hoist ring distributor for awareness of a Crosby inspection notice of a potential issue with their hoist ring assembly.
May 16-17, 2023 – Spartan Fire Engineering was notified of the issue and an investigation was started.
May 24-25, 2023 – Spartan Fire created a PSR Team, identified a potential population, and completed a risk assessment.
On May 26, 2023 – Escalated the issue to REV Group Management and REV’s senior leadership approved a voluntary recall for this issue.
