Chronology :
January 18, 2023, Winnebago was made aware of a customer incident involving a fire. An investigation of this incident found a missing temp sensor wire and a loose ground conductor that resulted in a failure of the house 12V charging system. Based on the findings of this incident investigation, a broader investigation was opened to look into potential issues with the house 12V charging system. After completing a detailed data analysis, Winnebago identified 3 total fires related to issues with the house 12V charging system. The earliest reported fire incident occurred in September of 2022. On Monday, March 27, the Product Safety Committee reviewed all available information and determined the issue presented an unreasonable risk to motor vehicle safety and a recall was initiated. During validation of the remedy, an additional potential root cause was identified. As a result 86 units were added to the population that were previously thought to have been built after the production clean date. An addendum to this recall will be sent to owners by September 8th.
There are no known injuries or property damage associated with this issue.
