Repair Procedure:
1. To perform the repair, you will need a 1” adjustable wrench, a 5/16” hex head bit, thread sealant and a spray bottle with soapy water solution to check for leaks after installation.
2. Locate the shutoff valve on the LP tank, make sure it is turned all the way to the “OFF” position.
3. Remove the fitting connected to the shutoff on the LP tank first using the adjustable wrench (this fitting has left-handed threads). Be aware some residual LP can spray out during removal.
4. Remove the small fitting from the LP regulator using the adjustable wrench. (This fitting has right-handed threads). If need be, the regulator cover can be removed for ease of access. Do this by removing the two push pins or the two 5/16” hex head screws holding the cover down. Then you should be able to lift the cover to reveal the regulator.
5. To install the new line, apply thread sealant to the small fitting and attach it to the regulator. Tighten it using the adjustable wrench.
6. Then attach the large fitting to the LP tank, tighten using the adjustable wrench.
7. Once both ends of the hose are attached turn the LP tank shut off valve back to the “ON” position. Using your spray bottle with soap solution. Spray both fittings to check for leaks. If bubbles form, you have a leak and need to tighten your fittings. Once there are no bubbles forming the hose is properly secured.
You can now replace the regulator cover and turn the LP tank shut off valve back to the “OFF” position.
Chronology :
On October 19, 2022, during final finish LPG check, it was noticed there were some LPG regulator hoses leaking at the non-swiveling end of hose. Investigation ensued, and it was found that Tiffin had to order some Fairview LPG regulator lines due to supply issues with Marshall brand hoses. Fairview hoses were leaking. Production was supposed to finish out the inventory of Marshall before using Fairview. However, the Fairview were mistakenly added in the mix. Therefore, there were some leaking and some not depending on which hose unit had. On October 26, 2022, Tiffin Safety Committee voted to do a recall. Tiffin Motorhomes has not received any warranty claims on this issue.
