Dear Customer:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Dorman Products has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, may exist in certain aftermarket replacement A/C Bypass Pulley assemblies.  As a result of this determination, Dorman Products is recalling part numbers 34283 and 660-2001-1, which were sold for replacement use on the following makes and models:

Make Model Year Configuration

Hyundai Sonata 2002-2005 V6 2.7L (2656cc)
Hyundai Sonata 1999-2001 V6 2.5L (2493cc)

Only A/C Bypass Pulley assemblies with the part numbers stated above are included in the recall.  These A/C Bypass Pulley assemblies were sold as an alternative to replacing to the entire AC Compressor and therefore, eliminated the function of the air conditioning in the vehicle.

If you had this repair performed before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy.  In order to qualify for this reimbursement, you must send original invoices and receipts to:

Dorman Products, Inc.,

IDQ Interdynamics EZ Chill 54oz R134A Refrigerant AC Recharge 3 Cans - Can Tap Hose with Gauge with Air Conditioning Stop Leak
  • R134a KIT - Kit contains (2) 18oz cans of R134a refrigerant with stop leak and a reusable can tap with gauge. A total of 36oz of R134a is enough to recharge almost every vehicle, just 18oz is not enough if you have a completely empty system.
  • STOP LEAK - The stop leak in this kit is good for sealing leaks in rubber components such as o-rings. This is a basic stop leak and can not repair more severe leaks. Products like ZeroR Max Seal are much stronger and can even repair leaks in metal components.
  • CAN TAP & GAUGE - Reusable can tap and gauge for similar EZ Chill products. Note, this is NOT a universal can tap and can not work on common R134a threaded products. For a truely universal can tap check out the ZeroR brand of tools and refrigerants.
  • INSTRUCTIONS - Steps on product should be followed closely. With vehicle running and AC set to Max Cool, connect can to low side service port. Dispense refrigerant into system in short bursts, checking the gauge in between dispensing for proper charging levels.
  • LEGAL - Complies with Section 612 of the EPA Clean Air Act, EPA Compliant in Self Sealing Cans. R134a Refrigerant for MVAC use in 18oz self sealing valve cans.

ZeroR® AC Refrigerant | R134a Replacement | 12 Cans / 1 Case for AC Recharge
ZeroR® AC Refrigerant | R134a Replacement | 12 Cans / 1 Case for AC Recharge
  • UNIVERSAL - ZeroR AC Refrigerant is a hydrocarbon that safely bonds with chemicals like R134a, R1234YF and R12. We can only advertise this product to be used in R134a systems due to EPA regulations in the USA on both R12 and R1234YF systems. EPA also prohibits mixing refrigerant types. See the description for all legal disclaimers.
  • EASY - This product installs just as easily as any R134a products. Cans even have R134a threads and the majority of R134a can taps will work for these cans.
  • 6oz CANS - Refrigerants are compressed gasses and are measured by weight, not by liquid volume such as water. All gasses compress differently and produce a different weight. ZeroR AC Refrigerant is low weight compared to R134a, but its performance is equal to 16oz of R134a.
  • ECO FRIENDLY & USA MADE – ZeroR AC Refrigerant is a 100% Natural gas unlike R134a, R1234yf and R12. This product is Made in the USA.
  • SAFE – ZeroR AC Refrigerant has a class 2.1 flammability rating just like the new R1234YF which is now used in 100% of newly manufactured vehicles. Under normal operating conditions this product presents no danger to its users when handled properly and used in systems approved for flammable refrigerants.
