Summary
Newmar Corporation (Newmar) is recalling certain 2020-2023 Super Star motorhomes. The Federal Certification label may indicate the incorrect tire size information for the rear tires. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, “Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars.”
Remedy
Newmar will provide new labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on November 17, 2022. Owners may contact Newmar’s customer service at 1-800-731-8300.
Notes

This notice is being sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
Newmar Corporation has decided that certain 2020-2023 Newmar Super Star Class C Motorhomes fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, No. 120, “Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars.” The federal tag label lists the incorrect rear tire size. As a result, when the tires are replaced, the wrong tires could be installed. This could lead to poor handling and/or a tire failure.
These motorhomes require immediate service. Continued use poses a potential safety hazard.
The Safety Risk
Poor handling or a tire failure could cause a loss of control and increase the risk of a crash.
WHAT WE WILL DO
Newmar Corp. will mail a new compliance label to each owner with work instructions on how to replace existing label with the new label. If you would like help to install it, you can contact an authorized Newmar service facility to have it installed free of charge. The service center will let the owner know when they contact them an estimated time for completion of installing new label.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
As this defect does affect motor vehicle safety, it is recommended that you call Newmar service department immediately if you would like assistance with the new label at 1-800-731-8300. An associate will assist you in making an appointment to have this new label installed.
Federal regulations require that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notification must forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days.

Chronology :
Newmar Corporation is reporting this recall following the discovery of the incorrect rear tire size printing on our federal tag label by production when they were asked to re-print a label for a unit on 8/25/22. Production then checked a label for a motorhome going through production at that time and the label also printed the incorrect rear tire size. Newmar IT department was notified of the problem on 8/25/22 and after looking into the issue it was discovered that all the information in our Engineering specifications called out the correct size for the rear tire but the program pulling the information from the Engineering specification was not printing it correctly on the label.
Production was asked on 9/6/22 to print some sample labels from different Super Star unit numbers and each label printed showed the incorrect rear tire size. After going back in the Engineering history for the Super Star product it was discovered that a Engineering Change Order was done on 4/2/2019 which changed the rear tire size to be different from the front tire size on the Super Star product and from that point forward the label was printing the incorrect information.
Newmar IT department was able to identify the printing error and the problem was corrected on 9/13/22 with every label since that time for the Super Star product printing the rear tire size correctly.
All of this information was presented to the Safety Committee on 10/5/2022 and at that time it was decided to file a recall for this issue.

Delaware St PO Box 30 Nappanee 46550 Country : United States Chronology : Newmar Corporation is reporting this recall following the discovery of the incorrect rear tire size printing on our federal tag label by production when they were asked to re-print a label for a unit on 8/25/22.
