Center Marker Light Missing/FMVSS 108
A missing marker light can reduce vehicle visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Tiffin Motorhomes, Inc. (Tiffin) is recalling certain 2022 Midas motorhomes. The center marker light was not installed, which could limit visibility to other drivers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, “Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment.”
Remedy
Dealers will relocate the back up camera and install a center marker light, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 22, 2022. Owners may contact Tiffin customer service at 1-256-356-8661. Tiffin’s number for this recall is TIF-125.

Purpose: To provide instructions on how to relocate the back up camera and add a missing rear center marker light.

FLAT RATE CODE & TIME ALLOWED FOR VISUAL INSPECTION, EQUIPMENT RELOCATION, TERMINATION, AND SYSTEM CHECK: MD8808RC01 for up to 1.5 hours.
Note for parts: Part numbers for the system components are listed above. Not all parts may be needed for repair. In addition, some shop supplies will be needed and should be billed back under the flat rate code for the recall.
Note on systems: Below instructions represent proper procedures for repair, and testing. Images depict are shown for diagrammatical propose only and may not be reflective of each unit.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE:
- Turn chassis engine off and remove key from ignition switch. Place chassis light switch in off position. (Figure1)
REPAIR PROCEDURES:
1. Locate the rear backup camera mounted at the top rear of the back cap. The camera position will be between two of the rear marker lights center of coach.
2. Unplug rear camera from camera harness.
3. Remove screws from camera mounting bracket holding camera to back cap.
4. Once camera and bracket are removed there will be a center hole, locate the yellow and white marker light power wires and pull through the hole. There will be a yellow and white lead already for connection in the existing marker light harness.
5. Install a Qty. (1) part 5064728 – Light Marker Red (Figure 2) using gel filled butt wire connectors in the center between the other two existing marker lights. This light will cover the hole made from camera removal.
6. Seal around marker light, using a clear waterproof RTV silicone sealant.
7. Reinstalling the camera, using a step bit drill a 1.250” hole into rear cap. Position hole 4” from top as shown in (Figure 3), and 41 ½” from driver side as shown in (Figure 4)
8. Install 1.250” bushing into hole and reposition the camera harness through bushing. See (Figure 5)
9. Reinstall camera mounting bracket with / camera at position shown in Figure 5.
10. Plug camera harness back into camera see Figure 5.
11. Apply waterproof RTV Silicone Sealant to any screw heads, and open holes.
12. Final assembly arrangement will reflect setup shown in Figure 5.
13. Complete systems check as described below.
A. Checking marker lights: Turn chassis ignition key switch to the on position. Then turn the chassis light switch on for the headlight position. Inspect that all marker lights are operational, and lamps are burning.
B. Checking the backup camera: Start the chassis engine, with your foot on the brake place the unit into reverse. The radio display will show a rear camera image, verify the camera image for correct positioning. Adjust rear camera for correct image as needed.

Midas Center Marker Light
Dear Tiffin Motorhome Owner or Dealer,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Tiffin Motorhomes has decided certain, 2022 Midas Motorhomes, fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, “Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment”.
Tiffin Motorhomes has become aware of the possibility that on these motorhomes, the rear center marker light was left off and the back up camera was put into the location for the rear center marker light. Not having the correct number of marker lights on the motorhome will impair the visibility of the motorhome to other drivers and may increase the risk of a crash.
Tiffin Motorhomes will have the location of the rear back up camera relocated and have a rear center marker light installed in the correct location.
Please arrange to take your motorhome to a reputable service center OR dealer of your choice to have the correction completed. A list of Tiffin Motorhomes authorized dealers is available online at https://tiffinmotorhomes.com/service–center–locations. The recall repair will take up to 1 hour and 30 minutes. If you are using a service center that is not a Tiffin Motorhomes authorized repair facility, please make sure that they contact Tiffin Motorhomes for the required parts, instructions and time allowed for the repair. Tiffin Motorhomes will not pay over the allowed time unless the repair facility receives a prior authorization. For authorization, contact Tiffin Motorhomes at 256-356-0261 or service@tiffinmotorhomes.com .
You may be liable for any progressive damage that results from your failure to complete the recall within a reasonable time after receiving notification.

7/27/22 Safety Committee was advised of non-compliance due to center marker light had been left off. Decision was made to submit 573 for recall. No vote needed. There have been no claims or reports of problems to date.

Tiffin Motorhomes has decided certain, 2022 Midas Motorhomes, fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 108, “Lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment”. Tiffin Motorhomes has become aware of the possibility that on these motorhomes, the rear center marker light was left off and the back up camera was put into the location for the rear center marker light. Not having the correct number of marker lights on the motorhome will impair the visibility of the motorhome to other drivers and may increase the risk of a crash. Tiffin Motorhomes will have the location of the rear back up camera relocated and have a rear center marker light installed in the correct location. Please arrange to take your motorhome to a reputable service center OR dealer of your choice to have the correction completed. A list of Tiffin Motorhomes authorized dealers is available online at https://tiffinmotorhomes.com/service-center-locations. The recall repair will take up to 1 hour and 30 minutes. If you are using a service center that is not a Tiffin Motorhomes authorized repair facility, please make sure that they contact Tiffin Motorhomes for the required parts, instructions and time allowed for the repair. Tiffin Motorhomes will not pay over the allowed time unless the repair facility receives a prior authorization. For authorization, contact Tiffin Motorhomes at 256-356-0261 or service@tiffinmotorhomes.com . You may be liable for any progressive damage that results from your failure to complete the recall within a reasonable time after receiving notification.
