Potential Number of Units Affected 1,004
Summary
Xtreme Outdoors (Xtreme Outdoors) is recalling certain 2021-2022 Little Guy Max and Little Guy Mini Max travel trailers. The axle bolts may have been improperly tightened during production, which can cause the axle to break or detach from the trailer.
Remedy
Dealers will tighten the axle mounting hardware, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 15, 2022. Owners may contact Xtreme Outdoors customer service at 1-888-469-8688.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
Xtreme Outdoors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain model 2021-2022 Little Guy Max and Little Guy Mini Max trailers, manufactured between 01/01/2021 and 10/31/2021. As a result, Xtreme Outdoors is conducting a safety recall to address the issue. We are notifying you because our records indicate that you are the current owner of the trailer listed above. Therefore, please review this letter carefully.
WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?
Xtreme Outdoors discovered a manufacturing error may result in axles installed on the subject trailers to have bolts torqued at less than the axle manufacturer’s specification. If the axel’s hardware was not properly torqued, the axle could break or become loose from the chassis, which may increase the risk of a crash.
WHAT ARE WE DOING ABOUT THE PROBLEM?
To correct this condition, Xtreme Outdoors provide inspections of the axle mounting hardware to ensure that the hardware has been torqued within the required specification, 125 — 175 ft.-lbs. At your earliest convenience, you should contact your nearest Xtreme Outdoors dealer to arrange an inspection. The inspections and, as necessary, the tightening of the mounting hardware will be done free of charge. The inspection and repair will take approximately 0.5 – 1.0 hours.
WHAT IF YOU ARE A LESSOR?
Federal law requires vehicle lessors receiving this recall notice to forward a copy to the lessee within ten days. Also, it is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to deliver a new trailer covered by this recall notice under a sale or lease until the noncompliance has been remedied.
