Complaint:
Fault message in instrument cluster on engine start "Power Steering Malfunction, Service Required". Steering power
assistance is off.
A fault code with backup memory data is logged in the control unit log of the electric power steering (N68).
The backup memory is listed in the control unit log for the electric power steering (N68) (see example in attachment).
Xentry fault profile:

Fault code P063500 with backup memory data 19 00 00 00 5F
Cause:
If the steering is operated during the starting procedure, the control unit monitor function can interpret this as implausi-
ble and signal a malfunction.

- Fogging/droplets forming on the inside of the lens (Figure 1)
- Water standing inside the rear lamp (Figure 2)
- Water can enter inside the rear-end door/ paneling via the rear lamp (open system, Figure 3) and adjacent compon-
ents in the inside/ dry area could come into contact with water.
