Braxton Creek RV has become aware in the past few weeks of complaints of cracks developing in the female quick disconnect which is connected to the LP Gas Manifold on the exterior of your RV. After an exhaustive effort to identify the problem and the source, we have determined that the crack is not being produced within our facility and therefore, has escaped our inspections as well as our system leak checks. A potential crack may develop in your quick disconnect through regular usage. The root cause for this crack has been identified as contamination and/or porosity in the brass from the brass supplier and we have been unsuccessful at any level of insertion force (torque) to avoid the potential for cracking. The suppliers’ records at this point indicate the relevant window for products that may contain cracks were shipped between July 1, 2021, and April 20, 2022. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you; however, your safety and continued satisfaction are of the utmost importance to us.
At this point in time, we are in a very unfortunate situation where we simply do not have a viable solution to avoid cracks developing with our current quick disconnect inventory. Due to this situation, we have no choice but to ship manifold systems with pipe plugs where the quick disconnect is normally installed. Our supplier has a long-term correction that is approximately 58 weeks away and is working diligently to find an alternative supply solution. Braxton Creek will continue to work with the supplier to get past this challenge as quickly as possible.
The immediate modification is to install a plug in the place of the quick disconnect. The longterm correction is to replace the plug with a new quick disconnect when our supplier comes to an appropriate solution.
Reason for this recall: Possible cracking on the LP Quick Disconnect.
What we will do: Braxton Creek representatives have been in contact with your selling dealership regarding this situation. Braxton Creek will supply your dealership with a 3/8” plug for the immediate fix. For the long-standing correction, Braxton Creek will supply your dealership with the new quick disconnect when they are available, free of charge.
What we need you to do: As soon as possible, please contact the dealership where you purchased your Bushwhacker/Free Solo RV, we will mail the plug promptly for the immediate modification. Braxton Creek will supply the new quick disconnect as soon as it is available.
If your dealer is unable to perform this procedure without charge, or within a reasonable amount of time, please contact Braxton Creek RV for assistance. You may also contact the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1200 New Jersey Avenue, SE., Washington, DC 20590; or call the toll-free Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
