Potential Number of Units Affected 1
Summary
Marion Body Works Inc. (Marion Body Works) is recalling one 2018 International SR525 emergency vehicle equipped with feature codes 12VXT or 12VXU. With the parking brake applied and the automatic transmission in the ‘Drive’ or ‘Reverse’ position, and when the stationary PTO switch is engaged by the operator, the engine RPM will ramp up and may overcome the parking brake’s ability to hold the vehicle.

Important Safety Recall Information – Recall Number: 22V-172
Marion Body Works was notified of a recall issued by Navistar which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2018 and 2019 Durastar and WorStar model trucks and certain 2019 and 2020 HVand MV series trucks build 01/12/2017 thru 09/24/2019 with feature code 12VXT (Engine Speed Control; Electronic, Stationary, Variable Speed) or 12VXU (Engine Speed Control for PTO; Electronic, Stationary Pre-Set, Two Speed Settings).
Noncompliance Description:
On certain trucks equipped with an automatic transmission, if the automatic transmission is still in drive or reverse position and the stationary PTO switch is engaged, the engine RPM will ramp up and may overcome parking brake hold capability resulting in possible vehicle movement.
Unexpected movement of the truck can increase the risk of a crash resulting in property damage or personal injury.

Part 573 Safety Recall Report 22V-172 Page 3 The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 •11/7/2019 – Navistar completes the analysis on all axle brake combinations and determined the final suspect population that could be susceptible to unintended vehicle movement if the steering wheel switches were used to adjust engine speed when the vehicle was in gear. •11/14/2019 – Navistar declares a Safety Recall. Marion has received 0 warranty claims on this recall. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : •The remedy will involve updating the parameters in the Cummins’ ECM for feature codes 12VXT or 12VXU that enables the PTO neutral interlock. •Navistar’s plan for reimbursement of pre-notification remedies, on file with NHTSA and dated 10/03/2018, applies and reimbursement instructions will be included in the customer notification. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The updated PTDB calibration has the PTO neutral interlock enabled and the previous calibration did not. Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : 09/10/2019 – updated PTDB calibration went into production. Recall Schedule : Description of Recall Schedule : Dealer notification will occur 3/25/2022 – this truck is still owned by Marion Body Works no customer notification will need to occur. Planned Dealer Notification Date : MAR 25, 2022 – MAR 25, 2022 Planned Owner Notification Date : MAR 25, 2022 – MAR 25, 2022 * NR – Not Reported
