Front Corner Weld Reinforcement on Fiberlite POD and POD XL Replaceable Tongue Frame
Pelsue Company is committed to the continuous improvement of our products, for both products currently in production and those products already in use by our customers. As part of this commitment, Pelsue has identified a potential issue with the frame of replaceable POD and XL trailers, particularly when towed at an unlevel angle behind a 1-1/4-ton truck or larger.
To increase the robustness of these frames, we have developed a pair of external brackets to be applied on each front corner of the trailer frame to better support the welded front cross member. These trusses will be bolted in place and do not affect the replaceable tongue. The Corner Cap kit (127834-AP1) and installation instructions (127834) will be sent at no cost to you. Our service department will help arrange a nearby repair shop that can install these trusses. The estimated time for installation is approximately 30 minutes.
This Bulletin is intended to assist customers in inspecting their trailer to identify the issue (page 2) and to assess risk of failure (page 3). No tools are required to inspect a trailer for this issue. This document applies to the replaceable tongue version of both Fiberlite POD and Fiberlite XL trailers, although either product may be shown in accompanying pictures.
NOTE: This bulletin does not affect trailers made without the replaceable tongue (early POD and XL, SPOT, MCT, STEER, Grizzly). All POD and XL trailers shipped after January 31, 2023 have this issue resolved and do not need the external trusses applied.
Inspection location – Top View
Inspect the welds between the frame rails and front cross-member. Picture below shows a representative trailer with the impacted areas circled in red.
Inspection Location – Bottom View
BEFORE INSPECTING THE UNDERSIDE OF THE TRAILER FRAME: Ensure that the trailer is fixed in place by deploying every jack, including the tongue jack. Prevent accidental rolling by fixing the wheels with wheel chocks. Ensure that everything on and around the trailer is secured before getting under the trailer.
In order to fully inspect the affected areas, the inspector must view the frame from underneath. The representative image below is a view of the front curbside corner of the frame weldment from underneath the trailer. The red arrows point to the specific weld joints to closely inspect for any cracks in or around the welds. Be sure to check the weld joints on both the street side and curb side of the trailer.
Inspection Findings
In the event that a crack is discovered during the inspection in these areas, do not attempt to use the trailer for routine use.
Representative pictures of cracked welds for a trailer that should be immediately removed from service are below:
With the trailer jacks deployed and the trailer fully secured, remove any heavy equipment (within reason) and contact Pelsue immediately to report the case. Pictures of the trailer and any cracks or failures can be sent to service@pelsue.com along with identifying information on the customer and trailer model.
If no cracks are identified, please call Pelsue Service at 1-303-936-7432 so we can schedule the installation of the Corner Cap Kit specified on page 1 and arrange to ship the components and instructions to the proper installer.

NOTE: The procedure described by these instructions shall only be undertaken by those with a reasonable level of experience in general mechanics and with some knowledge of overall trailer design and construction. No certification is necessary. Required Equipment: Impact Driver, Power Drill, ½” drill bit (and smaller sizes for incremental drilling), Angle Grinder Installation Steps 1. Utilizing the parts list (Figure 1a) and the Parts diagram (Figures 1b & 1c), ensure that all of the necessary components are included in the kit prior to undertaking the installation. Ensure the trailer’s tongue jack is properly deployed to support the tongue weight of the trailer, and that wheel chocks are utilized to prevent any unwanted movement. Release any load from the trailer jacks mounted at the front of the rectangular frame and uninstall these jacks along with their mounts (powder‐coated in a textured black). NOTE: Some trailers may not have the front jack mounts. If the trailer being worked on does not have these mounts, then disregard this step. 3. Ensure there are no protruding weld beads along the top, bottom, front, and side faces of the rectangular frame in the area shown in Figure 2. The proper fitment of the Corner Caps requires that these faces are flat and the corners are not jagged. Grind these weld areas down if necessary. See the picture below for an example of how this area should look. Figure 2) Welds on the front curbside corner of the frame 4. Set the Corner Cap on the front corner of the frame with the diagonal face on the bottom of the trailer as shown in Figure 3a and 3b. The top face of the Corner Cap has tabs that will keep the piece in place until it is secured. Check to make sure no welds in the area shown in Figure 2 are interfering with the placement of the Corner Cap. Figure 3a) Streetside Corner Cap top view Figure 3b) Streetside Corner Cap bottom view Page 3 127834‐### ‐ Installation Instructions ‐ #127834‐AP1 – Pod Replaceable Tongue Corner Caps Assembly Kit 5. Place the trailer jack mount up against the two corresponding holes in the Corner Cap, in the same location the jack was in previously. Using 2X of the 1‐1/2” screws (Item #6), 4X of the washers (Item #8), and 2X of the stover nuts (Item #7), securely fasten all parts to the trailer frame. The top face of the trailer frame is likely covered with an aluminum deck plate and other equipment. The underside of the Corner Cap should provide a large enough cutout for accessing the inside face of the trailer frame. NOTE: If this trailer did not have front jack mounts, then fasten the Corner Cap to the trailer frame as instructed but without the jack mounts. 6. With the Corner Cap securely in place, mark the center positions of the remaining holes in the Corner Cap. There will be two in a diagonal pattern on the front face, two on the side face to the rear of the jack mount holes, and one on the bottom face centered between the jack mount holes. Drill out holes up to ½” completely through the aluminum material. The front beam is a tube, drill through both walls. NOTE: Depending on imperfections in the manufacturing process, it may be necessary to drill a hole incrementally larger than ½” to ensure the screws fit properly. 7. When the remaining holes have been sufficiently drilled, fully secure the Corner Cap. This will require 2X of the 3‐1/4” screws (Item #5) for the front face, 3X of the 1‐1/2” screws (Item #6) for the side/bottom faces, 5X of the stover nuts (Item #7), and 10X of the washers (Item #8). IMPORTANT: DO NOT over‐torque the two front screws when installing the Corner Cap (Item #5). Putting too much torque on these screws may cause the front aluminum tube of the frame to buckle inwards, compromising its strength. Check the shape of the tube as the screws are tightened to ensure it is not being bent. When fully secured, the Corner Cap should appear as in Figure 4a and 4b. NOTE: Figure 4a/b does not show the trailer jack mounts as described in Step 5. Figure 4a) Secured streetside Corner Cap top view Figure 4b) Secured streetside Corner Cap bottom view 8. Repeat Steps 4 through 7 for the other corner. Ensure that both Corner Caps are securely installed and are not interfering with any functions of the generator or other frame‐mounted equipment. 2500 S Tejon Street Englewood, CO 80110 (303) 936‐7432 sales@pelsue.com

Service Bulletin Front Corner Weld Reinforcement on Fiberlite POD and POD XL Replaceable Tongue Frame P a g e 1 | 4 Pelsue Company is committed to the continuous improvement of our products, for both products currently in production and those products already in use by our customers. 2500 S Tejon St Englewood, CO 80110 (303) 936-7432 service@pelsue.com Service Bulletin Front Corner Weld Reinforcement on Fiberlite POD and POD XL Replaceable Tongue Frame P a g e 2 | 4 Inspection location – Top View Inspect the welds between the frame rails and front cross-member. IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL This notice applies to your trailer(s), VIN xxxxxxxx. NHTSA Recall No.: 23V-684. October 26, 2023 Dear Trailer Owner, This notice is sent to you in accordance with the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. T.A. Pelsue Co. had decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022 Tradesman Fiberlite POD and Tradesman Fiberlite XL trailers. A Service Bulletin from T.A. Pelsue Co. describing this issue was previously sent to all affected owners on June 23, 2023. Due to a design issue the welds on the front cross member of the trailer frame may fail. If the welds on the trailer frame fail, the trailer could no longer be attached to the towing vehicle and might cause a crash or injury. To increase the robustness of these trailer frames, T.A. Pelsue Co. has developed a pair of external steel brackets to support the welded front cross member. These brackets can be bolted in place on the front corners of the frame in approximately 30 – 45 minutes at the trailer location and eliminate the failure mechanism of the defective frames. This Corner Cap Kit with instructions is covered under warranty and available at no cost. Shipping costs for this kit and the installation labor cost are also covered under warranty. Please inspect your affected trailer(s) as soon as possible. The Service Bulletin referenced above is included with this notice and is intended to assist owners in inspecting their trailer(s) to identify the issue and to assess the risk of failure.
