Solar Panel Mounting Hardware May Loosen
Loose hardware can cause the solar panels to detach from the vehicle during transit, increasing the risk of a crash.

Summary
Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2021 Forester 2401BSD, FR3 F3A32DSF, Georgetown GTA36K7, 2022-2023 East to West Entrada, 2023 East to West Alta, Coachmen Apex, Brookstone, Chaparral and Chaparral Lite, Forest River Crusader, Sanibel, Shasta Phoenix, Coachmen Spirit, and East to West Tandara vehicles. The solar panel mounting hardware may become loose and pull through the slot in the panel.
Remedy
Dealers will install additional hardware to the existing panel and install a secondary holding bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 5, 2023. Owners may contact East to West Alta, Entrada and Tandara customer service at 1-574-264-6664; Coachmen Apex and Spirit customer service at 1-574-825-8205; Coachmen Brookstone, Chaparral, Chaparral Lite, and Shasta Phoenix customer service at 1-574-825-7101; Crusader and Sanibel customer service at 1-574-862-1025; and Georgetown Forester and FR3 customer service at 1-574-206-7600. Forest River’s number for this recall is 51-1607.

Concern: According to Lippert Components recall 23E027: “In transit, the mounting hardware holding the solar panel in place could become loose or pull through slots in the solar panel.”
Disconnect the vehicles’ battery Positive and Negative, disconnect any House battery(s) Positive and Negative, if equipped with a generator ensure it is off and lastly, ensure the vehicle is disconnected from shore power. Block any tires/wheels to prevent the vehicle from rolling. Failure to do so may result in electrocution, fire or other personal injury, property damage and/or death.

Dear Forest River Customer:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements Motor Vehicle Safety Act. This notice is also sent in accordance with the requirements of the United States’ National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Forest River has decided that a defect, which relates to the motor vehicle safety, exists in one single 2021 FR3 Class A Motorhome, 2021 Forester Class C Motorhome and one single 2021 Georgetown Class A Motorhome recreational vehicles. As well as certain 2022-2023 East to West Entrada Class C Motorhomes. Certain 2023 East to West Alta, Coachmen Apex, Spirit, Travel Trailers and 2023 Coachmen Brookstone, Chaparral, Chaparral Lite, Shasta Phoenix, Crusader, Sanibel and East to West Tandara Fifth Wheel recreational vehicles. This is to inform you that your vehicle may contain a defect that could affect the safety of a person.
WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?
According to Lippert Components recall 23E027: “In transit, the mounting hardware holding the solar panel in place could become loose or pull through slots in the solar panel.”
EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.
According to Lippert Components recall 23E027: “Solar Panels could separate from the bracket while the RV is in transit.” Additionally, this condition may lead to a crash.
WHAT IS FOREST RIVER AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?
Forest River is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest River completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. There will be hardware and a bracket added to the solar panel mount to ensure it is secure for transit. If the solar panel has detached a replacement will be provided. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy. You may also visit www.forestriverinc.com for dealer locations.
HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?
The estimated time of repair is .70 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.
WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?
If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized. Additionally, you may be eligible for a refund of previously paid repairs. Refunds will only be provided for within the scope of this defect under recall.

On April 7, 2023, Forest Rivers Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) received a notice of recall 23E027 from Lippert Components.
On April 10-11, 2023, OCC worked with the sales data received from Lippert Components to determine the scope of vehicles.
On April 14, 2023, Forest Rivers Corporate Recall Committee was notified of the equipment recall and OCC filed a 573 report.

This Customer Notification is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the United States National Traffic
and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
Lippert has conducted a thorough investigation and determined an issue which relates to motor vehicle safety may
exist in certain vehicles equipped with the attachment bracket and hardware of specific Solar Panels sold to you
by Way Interglobal prior to 12/01/2022 and sold to you by Lippert after 12/01/2022. There is the possibility the
hardware and attachment bracket may be insufficient which could allow a unit to detach from the roof of the RV. Our
records indicate your company purchased one or more of the involved products sold to you by our acquired company,
Way Interglobal, between 08/18/2022 and 11/30/2022 as well as sold by Lippert between 12/07/2022 and 03/25/2023.
The involved products sold to you are listed in detail in two spreadsheets included with this notice. If these products
are still in your inventory, you must not sell or install these into units. It is a violation of federal law to sell any
of the listed products covered by this recall until the defect is remedied. The inspection and/or remedy
instructions are enclosed with this letter.
WHAT WE WILL DO
Lippert will reimburse dealers or mobile repair facilities 0.5 labor to install the additional hardware and bracket onto
certain Solar Panels. The instructions for this recall are in process and will be forwarded to you as soon as completed
and will include the part number and details of the recall repair kit.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
You or your dealer must complete the installation of the additional hardware and bracket which will be outlined on
the repair instructions when completed. Once the repair is complete the dealer should submit a claim for payment of
the labor charges to the RV Manufacturer or direct to Lippert. Lippert’s Customer Service department may be reached
via email at recall@lci1.com or via phone at 574-538-4514 if there are any questions. Lippert does not require
advance contact or a pre-auth be obtained; labor allowance for this repair is 0.5 hours with no parts to be returned.

Purpose
This document provides rework instructions for WAY solar panel mounting brackets. The corrective action
for Recall 23E-027 includes installing additional brackets and hardware; the solar panel does NOT need to be
removed from the unit.
Safety
This document provides general instructions. Many variables change the circumstances of any procedure,
i.e. the degree of difficulty of the service and the ability of the individual performing the operation. This
document cannot plot procedures for every possibility, but will provide general instructions for installing,

Preparation
NOTE: Lippert does not require any advance contact or prior authorization be obtained by the repairing facility.
The solar panel’s SKUs mentioned may be mounted on RV units with two different types of mounting
brackets shown below. This rework kit can be used for both bracket types.
1. Begin the rework process by identifying the type of bracket (A or B) used to mount a solar panel to the
roof of an RV unit. Use the corresponding process shown below.

Procedures
For Type A Mounting Bracket
1. Peel the adhesive backing on the small rectangular spacer piece and stick it to the add-on L-bracket
centering it on the single mounting hole at the center of the bracket shown below.
2. Peel the adhesive backing on the L-bracket and attach it to the panel, centering the add-on bracket to
the pre-existing mounting bracket as shown below. Make sure the bracket is flush to the top and sides
of the panel.
3. Drill a hole (using the 3/16 size drill bit from the kit) through the L-bracket pilot hole and the solar
panel. Drill into the panel as straight as possible. Drilling at an inclined angle could result in hitting the
M6 fastener of the pre-existing bracket behind the panel frame.

6. Drive the other two #12 screws into the recently-drilled holes and secure the add-on bracket to the
pre-existing bracket.
NOTE: Be careful and drive the screws slowly to avoid stripping them out.
5. Drill out the other two holes on the add-on bracket and through the pre-existing mounting bracket.
4. Use the impact driver tool with the recommended socket and drive one of the #12 thread-cutting
screws into the above drilled hole and secure the add-on bracket to the panel.
NOTE: Be careful and drive the screw slowly into the thin panel wall to avoid stripping it out.

1. If the bracket front face is recessed, the add-on bracket won’t align flush to the panel and creates a gap
between the add-on bracket and the pre-existing bracket at the bottom.
2. To fill the gap, stick the spacer piece using adhesive tape on the pre-existing bracket.
Case 1: Flush mount
1. If the bracket front face is flush to the panel, then no spacer is required. Peel the adhesive on the
L-bracket and stick it flush to the panel, centering on the pre-existing bracket.
2. Drill the top hole of the bracket through the panel and install a #12 screw.
NOTE: Be careful and drive the screw slowly into the thin panel wall to avoid stripping it out.
3. Follow the same process for drilling the other holes and secure the bracket with the other two screws.

1. If the bracket’s front face is protruding out, the add-on bracket won’t align flush to the panel and
creates a gap between the add-on bracket and the panel.
2. To fill the gap, stick the spacer piece on the bracket as shown below. Try to center the spacer on the
top hole as much as possible.
3. After installing the spacer piece in the corresponding location, peel the adhesive backing on the addon
bracket and stick it flush to the panel.
4. Drill the top hole first and thread a screw into the panel.
NOTE: Be careful and drive the screw slowly into the thin panel wall to avoid stripping it out.

WHAT IS THE DEFECT/NONCOMPLIANCE?
According to Lippert Components recall 23E027: “In transit, the mounting hardware holding the solar panel in place could become loose or pull through slots in the solar panel.”
EVALUATION OF THE RISK TO THE VEHICLE AND OPERATOR(S) RELATED TO THE RECALL.
According to Lippert Components recall 23E027: “Solar Panels could separate from the bracket while the RV is in transit.” Additionally, this condition may lead to a crash.
WHAT IS FOREST RIVER AND OUR DEALERSHIPS GOING TO DO?
Forest River is notifying dealerships of the recall. You may have the recall corrected at any Forest River dealership. However, it is preferable if you have your selling dealership perform the remedy. Forest River completely covers your cost for the remedy; you will not receive any bill of sale for anything covered under the above recall number.
WHAT SHOULD YOU DO?
Please contact your dealer immediately and request a service appointment to schedule the free remedy. There will be hardware and a bracket added to the solar panel mount to ensure it is secure for transit. If the solar panel has detached a replacement will be provided. The vehicle Owner is responsible for arranging to have the work completed. Please state you have been notified by Forest River of having a recall in process for your vehicle and provide the recall number for the dealership. It is also helpful to the dealership to have a copy of this letter when you take your vehicle in for the recall remedy. You may also visit www.forestriverinc.com for dealer locations.
HOW LONG WILL THE REMEDY PROCESS TAKE?
The estimated time of repair is .70 hours. However, the dealership may need to keep your vehicle or schedule an appointment with you for a later date to fit into their regular service schedule.
WHAT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY PAID FOR REPAIRS TO YOUR VEHICLE FOR THIS PARTICULAR CONDITION?
If you have already paid for a repair that is within the scope of this defect under recall, you still need to have this recall inspected and/or performed to ensure the correct parts and procedures were utilized. On April 7, 2023, Forest Rivers Office of Corporate Compliance (“OCC”) received a notice of recall 23E027 from Lippert Components. On April 10-11, 2023, OCC worked with the sales data received from Lippert Components to determine the scope of vehicles. On April 14, 2023, Forest Rivers Corporate Recall Committee was notified of the equipment recall and OCC filed a 573 report. The information contained in this report was submitted pursuant to 49 CFR §573 Part 573 Safety Recall Report 23V-262 Page 6 Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : Forest River will provide all parts and labor free of charge to Consumers
and Dealers. An authorized Forest River Dealer or Service Center will need to perform the remedy. Additional hardware and a bracket will be installed to secure the solar panel.
