Summary
Braun Ambulances (Braun) is recalling certain 2022 Demers ambulances, models MX164E, MX170E, MXP150E, MXP150Z, MXP153E, MXP170MLE, MXP170Z, and 2020, 2022 MXP170E. The rear step of the ambulance may fail under weight due to incorrect welding.
Remedy
Braun will send a reinforcement plate to be installed on the rear step, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 11, 2023. Owners may contact Braun customer service at 1-877-344-9990.

Chronology :
December 22 , 2022 the first rear step have broken on the production line. We did are investigation and the affected rear step repair. January , 18 , 2023 a second rear step broke on the production line. A action plan is put together to determine the problem , cause and resolution. We did found out that some rear step were affected and all produce by the same supplier . January , 20 , 20233 the affected supplier was advise and did the correction on is side to the drawing and part in stock. January , 23 , 2023 all unit affected still in are position have been repair before delivery.

Dear Demers Ambulance Owner:
Demers Ambulances has determined that a defect, related to motor vehicle safety exists in certain
Demers ambulances regarding the rear step plates supporting the rear step.
You are receiving this notice because our records indicate that you may have purchased a vehicle
equipped with potentially improper welded plates.
Improper welded plates holding the rear step may fail under the weight of an individual climbing
up or stepping down the rear of the vehicle using the rear step.
The safety risk may occur when using the rear step. The rear plates must either be properly welded
or permanently reinforced with an additional plate with bolts and nuts to eliminate the safety risk.
Plate failure may result in falls and injuries.

1. DEMERS HIGHLY RECOMMENDS TO NOT USE YOUR VEIDCLE UNTIL IT
IS CORRECTED.
2. PERFORMING THE REWORK TO ADDRESS THE DEFECT
Demers Ambulance Manufacturer Inc. will remedy the defect without charge to the vehicle owner.
Demers Ambulance dealers will be positioned to remedy the defect on and after April 30th 2023.
The remedy will require that two (2) holes be drilled in bumper structure and the installation of an
additional plate safely secured to the current plate and the rear bumper, and should be completed by a
qualified technician within 1 hour.
IF YOU HA VE HAD TO ALREADY CORRECT THIS DEFECT ON YOUR OWN:
Demers has a program for reimbursing owners for pre-notification remedies. If you have already paid
to remedy the defect explained in this letter, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for the cost
of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of a problem associated with a defect. To obtain information
about reimbursement call or email Demers as indicated above to learn about:
• limits on the time period in which the repair or replacement of the recalled vehicle or
equipment must have occurred;
• necessary documentation that must be submitted to obtain reimbursement;
• how to submit a claim for reimbursement of a pre-notification remedy;

Demers Ambulances has determined that a defect, related to motor vehicle safety exists in
certain Demers ambulances regarding the rear step plates supporting the rear step.
Improper welded plates holding the rear step may fail under the weight of an individual climbing
up or stepping down the rear of the vehicle using the rear step.
The safety risk may occur when using the rear step. The rear plates must either be properly
welded or permanently reinforced with an additional plate with bolts and nuts to eliminate the
safety risk. Plate failure may result in falls and injuries.
We have notified the NHTSA and will soon release a formal letter to the owners of the affected
vehicles. You will find below the list of owners whom, according to our records, have purchased
an ambulance from you, and will be notified accordingly.

It is a violation of Federal law for a dealer to deliver a new motor vehicle or any new or used
item of motor vehicle equipment (including a tire) covered by the notification under a sale or
lease until the defect or noncompliance is remedied.
Owners and Dealers shall contact Demers Customer Care for additional instructions on the
inspection procedure, how to report inspection results, and schedule an appointment to
permanently remedy the defect if the inspection reveals one.

December 22 , 2022 the first rear step have broken on the production line. We did are investigation and the affected rear step repair. January , 18 , 2023 a second rear step broke on the production line. A action plan is put together to determine the probleme , cause and resolution. We did found out that some rear step were affected and all produce by the same supplier . January , 20 , 20233 the affected syupplier was advise and did the correction on is side to the drawing and part in stock. January , 23 , 2023 all unit affected still in are position have been repair before delivery. Description of Remedy Program : The rear step structure have been reweld completly and repaint to prevent
corrosion.Demers will pay 1Hrs per repair for each unit in the field.This claim must be sent to us with are warranty claim sheet and approval from are self. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The recall in the field will be identify because we will send a new reinforcement plate to the unit in the field.

We did found out that some rear step were affected and all produce by the same supplier . January , 20 , 20233 the affected syupplier was advise and did the correction on is side to the drawing and part in stock. January , 23 , 2023 all unit affected still in are position have been repair before delivery. December 22 , 2022 the first rear step have broken on the production line. We did are investigation and the affected rear step repair. January , 18 , 2023 a second rear step broke on the production line. A action plan is put together to determine the probleme , cause and resolution. We did found out that some rear step were affected and all produce by the same supplier . January , 20 , 20233 the affected syupplier was advise and did the correction on is side to the drawing and part in stock. January , 23 , 2023 all unit affected still in are position have been repair before delivery. Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : The rear step structure have been reweld completly and repaint to prevent
corrosion.Demers will pay 1Hrs per repair for each unit in the field.This claim must be sent to us with are warranty claim sheet and approval from are self. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The recall in the field will be identify because we will send a new reinforcement plate to the unit in the field.
