Production Dates : JAN 01, 2019 – OCT 03, 2022 VIN Range 1 : Begin : NR End : NR Not sequential Description of Defect : Description of the Defect : The rubber mounts used to absorb the vibrations generated by the main hydraulic pump on the LionCs are showing premature wear, which could lead to improper pump mounting. FMVSS 1 : NR FMVSS 2 : NR Description of the Safety Risk : A pump with a poor attachment to the structure would increase the risk of loss of steering assist or loss of high voltage to the vehicle. The secondary pump ensures the braking capability of the vehicle. Loss of steering assist or loss of high voltage would increase the risk of a crash. There is no other warranty claim raised by the customers related to this issue. Description of Remedy : Description of Remedy Program : First, a notice will be sent to the owners of the impacted vehicles advising them of the defect and the precautions to take regarding their vehicle. Lion will then contact each customer to determine a date of intervention where a team of technicians will be dispatched to remove the rubber mounts. All costs will be covered by the Lion Electric Company under the warranty program. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component : The recalled component is removed but will not be replaced with a remedy component. Lion Electric has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2022 LionC vehicles. Description of the defect The rubber mounts used to absorb the vibrations generated by the main hydraulic pump on the LionCs are showing premature wear, which could lead to improper pump mounting. An unsecured hydraulic pump can cause a loss of power steering assist or damage the low-voltage harness, increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective measures and precautions A team of technicians will be dispatched by Lion Electric to remove the rubber mounts. Hardware will be replaced as needed. Lion Electric will contact you as soon as possible to determine the date of the recall, which will be done at the company’s expense by one of our technicians. If an anomaly is detected surrounding the steering system, you must contact The Lion Electric immediately at this toll-free number: 1 855 546-6706 ext.: 229 and not use the identified vehicle.
