NOTE: This service information is applicable to vehicles equipped with connected services.
DESCRIPTION
This Service Information is issued in accordance with New York State General Business Law §399 CCCCC (Connected
Vehicle Service; Domestic Violence Victims).
This regulation is intended to protect victims of domestic violence by allowing them to request the termination of thirdparty access (including access by an alleged abuser) to connected vehicle services, such as vehicle location tracking
and remote control functions.
To support this requirement, this Service Information enables confirmation of whether a vehicle is subject to connected
vehicle services by referring to the SUBJECT VIN & PRODUCTION DATE RANGE, and provides guidance on the
procedure to terminate such services when a customer requests the removal of third-party access for an applicable
vehicle.
Effective July 1, 2026, if a customer requests action under this regulation, a CMU/CDC software update must be
performed to enable appropriate control of connected vehicle service access. If no request is made by the customer, the
CMU/CDC software update is not required.
IMPORTANT:
• While this Service Information is based on New York State regulations, it allows CMU/CDC updates to be
performed on customer vehicles throughout the U.S. mainland including Alaska, Hawaii.

Mass-Production Change:
Due to regulatory requirements, application to vehicles produced on or after January 1, 2028 is required, and the mass
production change date for each model is currently under consideration.
Customers requesting the termination of third-party access to connected vehicle services should have their vehicle
repaired using the following repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Confirm that the customer has requested deactivation of connected services in accordance with New York State
General Business Law related action.
2. Perform the CMU/CDC software update according to the procedures outlined in the appropriate TSB shown in the
table below:

suffixes/software file numbers.
** One of three GVM software versions will be installed, depending on the vehicle specifications.
3. Confirm that the “Data Communication” or “Connected Services (Enabled)” menu is available after update.
NOTE for CX-5:
• Even prior to updating the CDC, the Data Communication menu is displayed, and a 2D code used to disable the
connected vehicle service is also shown. Once reprogramming is performed, the text displayed in the menu is
updated. To access Data Communication, navigate to Settings, then Privacy, in the Mazda Connect menu.

NOTE: For models other than CX-5:
• After updating the CMU, “Data Communication Information” will be available and can be verified in the “Internet
Connection” menu. To view the “Data Communication Information”, navigate to “Settings”, then “System Settings”,
and select “Internet Connection” in the Mazda Connect menu.

4. The customer can access the link below by scanning the 2D code on the center display using their smartphone. To
enable the setting to prevent vehicle location tracking, the customer is required to follow the instructions on the linked site
and perform the procedure independently.

NOTE:
• To request full deactivation of connected services, navigate to the FAQ section at the bottom of the linked site,
expand “Connected Services Data & Privacy,” and follow the provided instructions.
IMPORTANT:
• The setting to prevent vehicle location tracking will not be reflected until Step 4 has been completed.
