REPLACEMENT (SA648)
This bulletin provides information to replace the transaxle assembly on certain 2027MY Telluride Hybrid (LQ2
HEV) vehicles produced from February 02, 2026, through March 20, 2026. The affected vehicles may exhibit
a rough 3rd → 4th gear upshift and/or 5th → 4th gear downshift accompanied by an illuminated malfunction
indicator lamp with DTC P073500 stored. Follow the procedure outlined in this publication to replace the
transaxle assembly on the applicable vehicle. Before conducting the procedure, verify that the vehicle is
included in the list of affected VINs.
DTC Description:
P073500 – Gear 5 Incorrect Ratio – No Sub Type Information
NOTICE
A Service Action is a repair program without customer notification that is performed during the
warranty period. Any dealer requesting to perform this repair outside the warranty period will
require DPSM approval.
Repair status for a VIN is provided on KDealer+ (Service → Warranty Coverage → Warranty
Coverage Inquiry → Campaign Information). Not completed Recall / Service Action reports are
available on KDealer+ (Consumer Affairs → Not Completed Recall → Recall VIN → Select Report),
which includes a list of affected vehicles.
This issue number is SA648.

Inspection Procedure:
1.
Perform the ‘High Voltage Shut-Off Procedure’
(A) by referring to “Body Electrical System →
High Voltage Shut-Off Procedures → High
Voltage Shut-Off Procedures (Steps 1-4 Only)”
in the applicable Shop Manual on KGIS.
NOTICE
It takes at least five (5) minutes for
capacitor of the high voltage battery
system to discharge completely.
WARNING
Failure to follow the High Voltage
Shut-off Procedure may result in
serious electrical injuries.
2.
Replace the automatic transaxle assembly (B)
by referring to “Automatic Transaxle System →
Automatic Transaxle → Automatic Transaxle →
Removal → Installation” in the applicable Shop
Manual on KGIS.
3.
Reinstall all removed parts in reverse order of
removal.
Note: Transfer the electronic shift actuator
(C) to the new transaxle assembly (B).
BEST PRACTICES
New automatic transaxles are already filled with the specific amount of ATF, BUT it is still
recommended to check the fluid level. If the transaxle fluid level is found to be low, the dealer must
manually enter the appropriate fluid.
