OIL FILTER HOUSING GASKET REPLACEMENT (WTY045)

This bulletin provides information regarding the ‘Warranty Extension Program (WTY045)’ for the inspection
and, if necessary, replacement of the oil filter housing gasket on certain 2020–2025 MY Telluride (ON) vehicles
produced from January 9, 2019, through June 12, 2025. Under this program, the New Vehicle Warranty
coverage for this condition is extended from 5 years / 60,000 miles to 15 years / 180,000 miles, whichever
occurs first, starting from the date the vehicle was first put into service. Affected vehicles may develop an
engine oil leak from the oil filter housing gasket. During the extended warranty period, inspect and, if
necessary, replace the oil filter housing gasket at no cost to the customer. Follow the procedure in this
publication to perform the inspection and replacement.

 NOTICE
A Warranty Extension Campaign is based on a valid customer complaint during the extended warranty period
with customer notification. There is no charge to the vehicle owner for this repair.
Please confirm that all campaigns have been performed on the vehicle before returning it to the customer.

Inspection Procedure:
1.

Raise the vehicle on a hoist.

2.

Remove the oil drain cover (A).

 NOTICE

3.

Inspect the oil filter housing assembly (B)
engine block mounting area for oil leakage.
Is there visible oil leaking?

•

Engine oil is NOT leaking from the oil
filter housing (OK).
Inspection Only Op Code: 262A15I0

 NOTICE
If engine oil is leaking, but not from
the oil filter housing, claim the
Inspection Only Op Code and follow
normal

diagnosis

procedure

to

identify the source of oil leak.

•

Engine oil IS leaking from the oil filter
housing (NG). Proceed to the ‘Repair
Procedure’ on page 3 to replace the oil
filter housing gasket.

SUBJECT:

Repair Procedure:
1.

Place an oil drain container under the work
area.

2.

Remove the four (4) oil filter housing (B)
mounting bolts and allow the housing oil to
drain out into the container.
Note: Expect less than 1 qt. of engine oil to
drain after the bolts are loose/removed
from the mounting area.

2.

Remove the existing oil filter housing gasket
(C) from the assembly.

3.

Remove any excess oil from the oil filter
housing (B) and wipe it dry.

4.

Install the new oil filter housing gasket (C) onto
the outlined oil filter housing (B) area.

5.

Wipe dry any excess oil from the outlined
mounting surface on the engine block.

6.

Reinstall the oil filter housing (B) with a new
gasket (C) in the reverse order of removal.
Tightening torque for
Oil Filter Housing retaining bolts:
14.5 – 15.9 lb.ft (19.6 – 21.6 N.m)

7.

Check the engine oil level on the dipstick and
refill engine oil (5W-30) as needed.

8.

‘Start’ the engine and run for 15-30 seconds.

9.

Shut engine ‘OFF’ and verify no engine oil is
leaking from the oil filter housing (B).

10.

Top-off the engine oil as needed.

11.

Reinstall all other removed parts in the reverse
order of removal.
