Both removed flexible films (see Figure 55) are clearly identifiable by their white band and their lack of markings (no
blue dot). Dispose of them.

Now install the new folded flexible film (clearly identifiable by the blue marking and the black band; see component
on left in Figure 56). Make sure that the folded flexible film is in the correct position (see Figure 57). The blue dot
must be visible at the top near the connector for the main printed circuit board.

To install the folded flexible film, first insert the film in the connector of the satellite printed circuit board at the bottom
by hand. To do this, insert the flexible film in the connector from above and push it in until flush and the retaining
tabs of the connector are positioned in the recesses of the flexible film (see Figure 58). The white printed side of the
cable contact surface must point upwards.

Now guide the flexible film into the cable guide (see Figure 61) and insert it in the connector for the main printed
circuit board by hand (see Figure 62). The blue dot must be visible by the connector. Then lock the connector by
hand (see Figure 63).

Repeat the procedure exactly for the second flat flexible film with white contact surfaces and a blue dot (see
component on right in Figure 56).

When installing the flexible film, make sure that the end at which the fold is close to the white printed contact surface
is connected to the satellite printed circuit board at the bottom and the end with the blue dot is connected to the
main printed circuit board at the top.
Figure 65 shows how the flat film looks when fitted correctly.

Next refit the back cover and press on it lightly from above to engage the catches all around (see Figure 67). Make
sure that all the catches are engaged and the guide tabs (see Figure 69) are on the outside (see examples in Figure

68, Figure 69 and Figure 70). The white warranty label (see Figure 68) can be removed.

The procedure for replacing the flexible films is now complete and the Audi virtual cockpit can be reinstalled in the
vehicle according to the instructions in the Workshop Manual.
Remove the MOST protective connector before connecting the fiber optic cable to the vehicle.
To check that the repair was successful, it is recommended to first connect the Audi virtual cockpit to the vehicle via
the connector and the fiber optic cable without installing it in the vehicle.
Run the “0017 - Flex film repair kit” function in Guided Functions for diagnostic address 0017 using the ODIS
tester. The ODIS tester must have Audi brand version 2025.06 00 (or higher) to do this.
Then check that the Audi virtual cockpit is working correctly:
+ Turn signals and hazard warning lights with sound.
+ Fuel gauge.
+ Coolant temperature gauge.
+ Battery charge level display (for hybrid vehicles).
+ Display shown.
+ No messages shown on display, such as “Instrument cluster: fault. Limited warning messages. Please

contact workshop”.
Use self-diagnosis to check that there are no event memory entries in diagnostic address 0017.
If the Audi virtual cockpit is working correctly and there are no event memory entries in diagnostic address 0017, the
Audi virtual cockpit can be reinstalled fully in the vehicle. The repair measure is then complete.
If the Audi virtual cockpit is not working correctly or the event memory entry “B200049 — Control module faulty,
Static/active, symptom 10485833” is still logged in diagnostic address 0017, the steps performed to replace the
flexible films must be checked and corrected as necessary (e.g. flexible film not inserted in connector correctly).
