Cause:

On the affected vehicles, it is possible that the windshield and rear window were not manufactured in accordance with specifications and their bonding to the body is therefore
insufficient.
If this is the case, the lightweight glass pane may partially loosen in addition to water entering the vehicle
interior under certain conditions over the vehicle’s service life, which can be perceived by the customer
as wind noise. In an accident, when the front airbags are activated, we cannot guarantee that the
proportion of correct bonding is sufficient to achieve the full protective effect of the airbags.

Check the windshield and rear window and replace if necessary.

Information
The forecast failure rate is only 10%. The front and/or rear window panes and the associated parts must,
therefore, only be ordered in the event of a fault.
The part numbers of the required parts and materials for the respective vehicle can be seen in the

Procurement campaign tool
In order to be able to review the front and rear windows, a standard luggage scale is required. This is to
be obtained locally.
Only one luggage scale is needed for each affected PorscheeBay logo Center. Therefore, only one luggage
scalemay be ordered for each affected PorscheeBay logo Center.
Please read the following information about processing the campaign:

Tools:

**The luggage scale must only be invoiced once for the first vehicle during warranty processing
in each PorscheeBay logo Center. Only the required materials and labor time need to be invoiced in the
campaign claim for the remaining vehicles in the PorscheeBay logo Center.

For warranty processing, the Part No. ARA30000003 designated as “Luggage scales” can be
invoiced as an additional part in the warranty claim. Max. amount $19.48.

CAUTION
Material damage due to tensile test on windshield and rear window

An improper tensile test can cause cracks in the windshield or rear window.

Do not jerk on the suction lifter. The specified tensile force must be built up slowly.

Keep movements of the vehicle, such as by the person helping in the passenger compartment, to a
minimum to prevent fluctuations in the tensile force.

Information
General information on carrying out the leak test

Use a water/dishwashing liquid emulsion for carrying out the leak test.

The following fluid mixture makes an ideal water emulsion: 6 drops of commercially available
dishwashing liquid mixed in 1 litre of tap water.

Fill water emulsion into a suitable spray bottle.

The leak test involves blowing in compressed air. To do this, the compressed air must be set to
max. 8 bar at the pressure reducer for the compressed air supply.

A second person is needed in order to carry out the leak test.

You will need a second mechanic to help you carry out this handling step.

Install the suction lifter to position  Check windshield and rear window (shown for
windshield) -A- on the windshield. Make sure that the suction lifter is positioned as close as
possible to the adhesion of the window.

Lift off the sealing lip of the windshield in the area at position  Check windshield and rear
window (shown for windshield) -A-.

Spray the outside of the windshield in the marked area  Check windshield and rear window
(shown for windshield) with soapy water.

6.4

Using a commercially available luggage scale, carefully build up to 20 kg of tensile force
on the suction lifter and simultaneously apply compressed air to the marked area around
position  Check windshield and rear window (shown for windshield) -A- from the inside by a
helper. Pay attention to blistering in the marked area and the movement of the windshield.
During the tensile test, simultaneously review from the inside with a plastic spatula whether
there is a gap between the washer and the bond.

Repeat action steps 5.1 to 5.4 for positions  Check windshield and rear window (shown
for windshield) -B to D-.

Repeat action steps 5.1 to 5.5 for the rear window.

removed from the outside using the cutting thread during this campaign.
In this case, preparatory and rework in the passenger compartment is avoided.

In the case of wrapping windows with foil, costs incurred for renewed wrapping in the campaign claim
for recall campaign ARA3 can be invoiced as an external service (sublet) after the affected windows are
replaced. Please attach a copy of the invoice to the campaign claim in “External services”.
