SITUATION
While driving on smooth roads, a cracking
sound can be heard from the rear safety belt
feed trim panel. This sound will ONLY occur
on the right-side panel.
Note: See the attached video B51 05 23.
CAUSE
Excessive play in the alignment holes of the panel.
CORRECTION
Apply adhesive tape to the sides of the alignment holes on the panel.
PROCEDURE
Verify that a cracking sound from the safety belt feed trim panel is heard. If yes, then proceed to step 1.
1. Remove the belt feed trim panel following the repair instructions listed in ISTA/AIR (51 43 310).

2. Apply adhesive tape to the sides of the
alignment holes on the panel.
Note: The blue stripes indicate where
the adhesive tape should be applied on
the panel.
3. Install the belt feed trim panel back on the vehicle and verify the repair.

51 43 310.
Work time labor operation codes 51 00 001, 00 58 500, and 51 99 000 are not considered Main labor operations.
