By way of reminder, the engine oil specification for all Triumph
models is:
•
A semi or fully synthetic 10W/40 or 10W/50 engine oil which meets specification API SH (or higher) and JASO MA.
Note:

Triumph
recommend the use of Castrol Power 1 4T 10W-40 for the initial running in period and a semi
or fully synthetic 10W/40 or 10W/50 engine oil which meets specification API SH (or higher) and
JASO MA such as Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 (fully synthetic) engine oil, sold as
Castrol Power RS Racing 4T 10W-40 (fully synthetic) in some countries, thereafter.
Oils supplied in containers that are not marked as meeting these important standards are not suitable
for use in Triumph
motorcycles.
We would also like to remind dealers of the full range of lubricants recommended by Triumph
. Please refer to the table

Description:
Various Digital LCD Functions become Disabled at Low Temperatures
Models affected:
Trophy and Trophy SE
At low temperatures, several functions of the instrument’s digital LCD display may become temporarily disabled. This
condition is intentional and is necessary due to a reduction in the update rate of the instrument’s digital LCD display at low
temperatures. The functions affected normally update very quickly, however at low temperatures these functions update
faster than the digital LCD display will allow.
Details of the functions affected are as follows:
Temperatures Below 5ºC
The speed display function of the digital LCD display may become temporarily disabled when the internal temperature of
the instrument assembly falls below 5ºC. In the event that the digital speed display function becomes disabled due to low
temperatures, the speed display will be replaced by three dashes as shown below.

This condition is intentional and should not be considered to be a fault with the instrument assembly.
In the event that the digital speed display function becomes disabled, the main speedometer gauge will
continue to function as normal.
Normal operation of the digital speed display will resume when the internal temperature of the
instrument assembly has risen above 5ºC.

instrument assembly falls below -7.5ºC.

Description:
Fuel Injectors Temporarily Sticking Prior to PDI
Models affected:
All Models
Symptoms
When attempting to start the motorcycle during PDI the engine does not start immediately and, after a period of cranking,
the engine fires and runs on one cylinder.
Note:
•
This symptom can be diagnosed as an issue with the injectors using the Triumph
Diagnostic Tool. When
the motorcycle is in closed loop mode (i.e. at operating temperature) the short term fuel trim figures
climb above 20% whilst the oxygen sensor voltage remains below 0.5 V indicating a lean mixture.
Explanation
It is possible, during the period of time that new motorcycles spend in storage and in transit prior to delivery, that the fuel
injectors can become stuck in the closed position. This condition should not be interpreted as a fault with the injector.
Where this condition occurs the injectors will free up and operate normally once the engine has been run for a short
period of time. Please follow the remedial action procedure below.
Remedial Action
Warning
Never start the engine or let it run for any length of time in a closed area. The exhaust fumes are poisonous and may
cause loss of consciousness and death within a short time. Always operate the motorcycle in the open-air or in an area
with adequate ventilation.
1.
Start the engine and allow to run until the engine reaches operating temperature. Gently apply throttle if necessary
to keep the engine running.
2.
Once the engine has reached operating temperature, repeatedly raise the engine speed into the mid range for short
periods until the affected injector(s) free up and the engine runs on all cylinders. This process can take up to five
minutes.

•
Short term fuel trim and oxygen sensor voltage figures will return to normal once normal engine
operation has been achieved.
