Water /Snow in Blower Housing
Blower Motor Noisy, Water/ Snow Ingress in the Blower Housing

Technical Background
Water /Snow may enter the fresh air port of the blower housing contaminating the blower. The blower motor
bearings may fail and create a high pitched noise.
Excess water/snow enters the water box through the drain port located in the wheel housing. Revised parts.

Service procedure
Inspect Blower Motor
• Remove the front passenger side foot well trim panel.
See Repair Manual Group 68 Storage Compartments and Covers in Elsa.
• Remove and inspect the blower motor, Check for water ingress in the blower housing
See Repair Manual Group 87 Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning/ Removal and Installation/ Fresh Air Blower
V2 in Elsa.

Replace the blower if the following conditions are found.
• Signs of water contamination, corrosion or rust
• Noise from blower bearings
• Blower is hard to turn or binding

Replace the right front Wheel Liner
• Remove and replace the passenger wheel liner with 561 805 912D.
See Repair Manual Group 66 Exterior Equipment, Removal and Installation, Wheel Housing Liner in Elsa.

Replace the Air Inlet Cover and install water deflector

• Remove the Plenum Chamber Cover
See Repair Manual>Body>Body Exterior>50 Body

• Remove air inlet cover #1and install new air inlet cover 561
815 159C.

• Install water deflector 3C0 845 237 as shown.
Note:
Clean the surface area before attaching the deflector.

Technical Bulletin
• Align the plenum chamber cover to the fender before
snapping cover down and removing the adhesive tape.

• Start at the center of the bulkhead and insert the plenum
cover bead into the groove below the windshield.
Note:
Be sure to press firmly down to snap the cover completely into
the retainer. It the cover is not snapped in excess water will run
under the cover. Use soapy water to add in installation.

• Work the bead in completely by hand.
Note:
DO NOT use excessive force with a rubber mallet etc. as
damage to the windshield may occur

that the rubber seal is in contact with the windshield and
does not allow water under the cover.
