Customer statement / workshop findings
Boot Id does not attempt to power cbse when the boot cbse switch (bcated on the insde of t he boot Id) is pressed.

Technical background
In the event the power boot does not attempt to cbse when the boot cbse switch is pressed please folbw all instructons with in this TPI to determine
if the boot cbse switch is faulty before replacing.

CAUTION: It is imperative that no objects of any descripton are left near the mechanism, boot Id or hinges when the power boot is in operato n,
shouk:l the operative need to stop the boot Id from cbsing during the power cbse cycle re-press the cbse switch

Production change
All 2014 model year New Continental Gf vehK:les QQ£; VIN SCBFB63W 1EC093157 have the latest specificafon switch fitted at the t ime of prod ucto n,
the aperture of the switch cover panel is manufactured to tolerance

Measure
IMPORTANT: When disconnecting electrK:a l connectons, switch of all electrK:al consumers, switch off gniton and remov e g niton key
1.Press the boot cbse switch to confirm the switch does not attempt to cbse the boot. NOTE: Shouk:l the boot Id start and attempt to cbse please
still commence with this TPI to test t he full servK:eability of the switch as the fau~ within th e switch may be intermittent.
2.Remov e the boot Id latch cover - Refer to Workshop Manual Rep.Gr 70 - Boot Id latch cover panel - To remov e and fit
3 .Remove the switc h from the cover panel by pressing the two retain ing clips inboard and remove the switch from the cover panel (Figure 1)

4.Reconnect the switch to the electrK:al connect on (Fgure 2) albwing the switch to hang in free air

-With the boot cbse switch hanging in free air press the switch to check ifthe boo t Id starts to cbse, shouk:J this be the case and the boot Id starts to
cbse the switch is servi::eabe, you shouk:J now proceed with procedure 6 NOTE : shouk:J the boot not start to cbse proceed to proced ure 5
5.The resistance of the switch must now be measured and recorded using a suitabe mu~imeter. Pease folbw the procedures bebw
- Seect Q (Ohms) on the

mu~imeter

- Measure the resistance between pins 2 and 3 (Fgure 3) The button on the boot cbse switch must be pressed and hek:J in otherwise a correct
read ilg will not be obtained
I MPORTANT I NFORMATION FOR VEHICLES OR SWITCHES IN WARRANTY : The measurement shouk:J now be recorded in the warranty
claim comments box when claiming for a new switch.

The resistance for a fully servi::eabe switch when operated (pressed) is 0.2 Ohms

6.Before refitting the existing or new switch it is essential that the switch frts into the cover without any excessive resistance, shouk:J there be any
burrs or jagged edges around the aperture (Fgure 4) you shouk:J carefu lly smooth away any burrs or jagged edges using fine sandpaper taking care
not to enlarge the aperture
- Remove the boot Id latch cover - Refer to Workshop Manual Rep.Gr 70 - Boot Id latch cover panel- To remove and frt

7.Reflt the switch into the aperture ensuring correct orientation and the two clips are fully bcked into position
-Check that the 0tch cover clips are centrally positioned before refitting the 0tch cover (Fgure 5)

9. Press the boot cbse switch to confirm full operation
