Technical background
This procedure shouK:I be conducted during an applicable service interval in which both the eng ine oil and engine oil fi~er require replac ing.
This procedure details the process which must be folbwed to determine correct frtment/p resence of the oil fi~er pressu re relief vatve, there are three
possible scenaros, as folbws:

I) The valve is frtted, and the orientaton of the vatve is correct
II) The vatve is frtted, however the orientaton of the valve is incorrect
III) The valve is not frtted

Remedy
Th is campagn must be carried out on aU applicable vehicles to ensure all affected VIN's have all instructons within this procedure conducted.

Customer notification
Customers do not need to be informed directty of this campagn . Please ensure that £!!..affected vehicles are checked and repaired during an
appfcable service visit in which both the engine oil and engine oil fi~er require replacement.

IMPORTANT: Whilst carrying out this cam pagn please check for any other outstanding workshop acfons, please ensu re that all relevant VIN related
campagns are conducted during th e same workshop visit .

mark on the oil filter cap (Fgure 7) if this is not visible carry out the requ ired work in accordance with the instructons.

Work
Section 1
1. Whilst the engine oil filter is removed during the servte interval please check the fo lbwing:

- Visualfy check the by-pass vawe is correctfy installed, the orentaton of th e oil filter by -pass vawe shouk:l be frt:ted as shown in Figures 1 and 2, if the
by-pass vawe is frt:ted as shown no further acfon is requ ired
- Once the oil filter is reassembled p0ce a yelbw paint mark on the oil filter cap as shown in Figure 7

2. In the event that t he orientation of the valv e is incorrect as shown in Figures 3 and 4

Section 2

1. To remove the existing valve, use a suitable hook/pliers to pulVremove the valve from oil filter housing

On removal of the valve you must wear safety glasses as the valve can break into separate parts upon
ensure that all pieces of the valve are removed before fitting the new part

2. Insert the new valve into the end of T10029 as shown Fgure 6 ensuring correct orientaton
TIP: Use a rubber mallet to tap in and fit the valve. the end of T10029 is made from hardened plash::

3. With ex treme care using a rubber mallet frt the valve into the oil filter housing, ensure the valve is fully home and ecually seated upon frtment
4. Once the oil filter is reassembled place a yelbw paint mark on the oil filter cap as (Fgure 7) to confirm the by-pass valve is now fitted
