Section 1 - Initial check and confirmation
Right hand sensor
1.Referring to Fgure 3 - Po int A - Change the proximity sensor screw using part number N907 321 03
- Po int B - Confirm the overall conditon of the sensor outer casing, the outer casing shouk:J be not cracked, damaged or distorted
- Point C - Confirm the sensor beating tang is inserted into the seat frame

- Point B - Confirm the conditon of the sensor outer casing, the outer casing shou k:J not be cracked damaged or distorted
- Point C - Confirm the sensor tang is bcated into the sensor bracket
- Point D - Confirm the sensor bracket tang is bcated into the seat frame

After screw replacement and the condition of both sensors is confirmed as per specification, carry out Section 1 from point (I)
Should one or both of the proximity sensors not be as per specif"ication, carry out Sections 2 and 3
(I). Ensure a suitable battery charger - V/lS 5903 - or a charger with the same specifr:atbn is correctfl connected to the vehele electrea l system for
the duratbn of this procedure - Refer to workshop manual Rep.Gr 27 - Batteries to charge

- Connect the BentleyeBay logo diagnoste tool V/lS 5052A or later approved equipment, to the vehele On Board Diagnoste (OBD) socket
- From the Desktop launch the Offboard Diagnoste Informatbn System Servee by using the Diagstarter eon

When prompted, select Offboard Diagnoste Informatbn System Servee

- Select 36 - Base settings (Rep.Gr.72) - (Point B) NOTE: Base settings shouk:J now be conducted to albw the seats to be manoeuvred through all
positbns to clarify that the tolerance between the sensor and control module cover is per specifx:atbn to ensure that a clash conditbn is not possible

NOTE: Please make the customer aware that any prevbusly programmed seat memory settings (f applk:able) will be erased during the basic setting
p rocedure which is a requirement for this process
- Select execute (Point C) and folbw all on screen prompts until fill_measurement counters have changed from 0 to 1 as shown i1 Fgure 7 (point A)

2. Once the Basic settings procecure is complete on both front seats, re-check the overall conditon of both sensors to confirm that both are as
shown in Fgures 3 and 4
3. To confirm the fo lbwing tasks (a to c) have been conductec or replacec as part of this procedure place a yelbw confirmaton mark on bot h
prox imity sensors as shown in Fgure 9 (rght) and 10 (left)

(a) Both proximity sensors are as describec in procedure 1

(b) All applicable prox imity sensor and bracket screws have been replaced using the latest specifr:aton part
(c) Basic settings was conducted including re-checking the overall conditon of both sensors

In the event that one or both of the proximity sensors are not mounted as per specification after the after Basic settings procedure
was conducted, carry out Sections 2 and 3 to replace the applicable sensors, valance trim (left hand seat only) and control module
covers

The process to replace the left hand side components differs slightly from the right hand side, please ensure the applicable process is
followed.
The valance bracket on the right hand seat does not requ ire replacement
Section 2 - Proximity sensor replacement

components. please adhere to all instructons with in t he workshop manual to eliminate damage to t he seat rail embellishers

1. Remove the left hand front seat - Refer to wo rkshop manua l Rep .Gr 72 Seat frames - Front seat assembly to remove and fit
NOTE: The front seat bot fix ing covers (Fgure 11) shouk:I be discarded once removed as new parts are suppled as part of this procedure.

2. To replace the prox imity sensor, valance t rim and contro l mod ule cover - Refer to wo rkshop manual Rep .Gr 72 Seat frames - Fronts seat repair
stand Vf:iS 6136 to prepare. The repair stand is as shown D1 Fgure 12. The operative shouk:I ensure all procedures are fo lbwed as detailed to avod
damage to personnel and/or the seat

4. Referring to Figure 14 (Po int A) cut the cabe t e wh i::h secures the born to t he sensor bracket
- Undo and remove the screw (Point B) whi::h secures the prox im ity sensor bracket to the seat rail
- Remove the bracket from the rail
- Using a suitable t rim too l, remove the fir tree clip (Po int C) from the bracket. DO NOT dispose of the fir tree dp as it will be rec uired when refitting

the new sensor

NOTE: As a guideline and prior to cutting the cables the loom once spliced should be positioned as shown in Figure 22

5. Cut the wires of the new replacement proximity sensor to the same ength as the orginal sensor wires
- Referring to Fgure 17, remove 14 mm of cabe insulator from all four cabe ends

6. Using a red connector insert the cables as Fgure 19 into the relevant ends and crimp the connector ends using special tool WT 10078/ 1, ensu re
the red crimping jaw of the crimp tool is used, algn the jaw so the crimp actbn is app lied to the centre of one half in the spice feral

Before using the heat gun, the operator must fammarise themselves with the operating instructions. To eliminate any damage to
surrounding components ensure aOvulnerable areas and other cables within close proximity are suitably protected when using the
heat gun. Always wear suitable gloves and eye protection.
- Using heat gun WT10078 or similar carefully heat and shrink both ends of each sp lice, the splice shoul:l be heated from the centre outwards until it is
fully sealed which is indcated by the fbw of adhesive from both ends Fgure 20 shows an example of this

- Insulate both spices and b orn using suitable insulat bn tape
- Referring to Fi;Jure 21 (Po int A) - secure the sensor to the new brac ket using a new screw with t he pa rt number N907 321 03
- Refit the ori;J inal fir tree clip and secure the born using a new cable te (Po int B)
- Locate the bracket tang and bracket b catbn peg into the seat frame and sec ure the bracket to th e seat frame using a new sc rew with the part
numberN90732103 ( Po~tC )

7. Fit the new replacemen t seat valance bracket and seat control module cover - Refer to workshop manual Rep.Gr 72 - Front seat valance - To
remove and fit CAUTION: Ensure the valance bracket is bcated and fully secure as per instructbns within the workshop manual before commencing
- Refit the left hand front seat - Refer to workshop manual Rep .Gr 72 Seat frames - Fron t seat assembly to remove and fit

NOTE : Referring to Figure 23 when fitting the new seat bolt cover ensure the front edge lip (Point A) is bcated under the seat rail embellisher and
push the cover forward.
- Once bcated and before final fitment, ensure the centre part of the cover is in the positbn shown at (Point B)
- Finally push down the cover at (point C) a 'c/K:k' confirmation will be heard once bcated correctly

7. Locate and secure t he seat control module

- Refit: the rght hand front seat - Refer to workshop manual Rep.Gr 72 Seat frames - Front seat assembly to remove and frt

NOTE: Referring to Fgure 35 when fitting the seat bolt cover ensure the front edge lip (Point AJ is bcated under the seat rail embellisher and push the
cover forward.
- Once bcated, push ft the centre part of the cover (Point BJ a 'click' confirmation will be heard once bcated correctly
- Finally push down the cover at (point CJ a 'click' confirmation wiU be heard once bcated correctly

Section 3 - Proximity sensor confirmation
1. Reconnect the BentleyeBay logo diagnostK: tool VAS 5052A or later approved equipment, to the vehK:le On Board DiagnostK: (OBD) socket
- Use Guided Fault Finding in Offboard DiagnostK: Information System to carry out a complete diagnostK: sweep of the vehK:le, clearing any
generated as a resu~ of performing this campagn
- Referring to Fgure 36 - Navgate to the Bbck diagram screen - select AIR - 15 - Airbag (Point A)
- Select 15 - Read measured va lues (Rep.Gr.69) - (Point B)
- Select execute (Point C) and fo lbw all on screen prompts
