On random occasions, car will display "check hybrid system" and go into limp mode (limiting speed significantly) check engine, oil, and battery lights also illuminate. Had car serviced twice by dealership who cannot replicate the error, nor can they find any engine codes stored. However, this incident keeps occurring. Planning on having the car serviced again and not picking it up until it's figured out, but also wanted to report this incidence as I have seen several posts with other people complaining of the same issue. Concern is for if this happens randomly at freeway speeds and becomes a serious road hazard.

Vehicle: 2020 Ford Escape I am experiencing a recurring drivability issue with my 2020 Ford Escape. During normal or light acceleration, primarily between approximately 1,000 and 2,000 RPM, the vehicle intermittently jerks, surges, or hesitates. At the same time, I can observe slight RPM fluctuation. The condition continues to occur even when the vehicle is driven in Sport mode. On some occasions, the vehicle has also accelerated suddenly and more aggressively than expected, making the vehicle’s response unpredictable. I have had situations where I nearly collided with another vehicle because of the unexpected acceleration. The vehicle has displayed diagnostic trouble code P0600 – Serial Communication Link. The ignition coils and spark plugs have already been replaced, but the condition remains unchanged. I am concerned because the hesitation, jerking, surging, and unexpected acceleration occur while the vehicle is being driven and could affect safe and predictable vehicle control in traffic. I have not yet received a final diagnosis confirming whether the cause is related to the transmission, torque converter, PCM/TCM, communication system, speed control system, or another component. I am reporting this issue so that NHTSA has a record of the condition in case other owners of 2020–2021 Ford Escape vehicles are experiencing similar drivability and unexpected acceleration problems.

The headlight assemblies, both headlights, (headlamp housing) failed due to structural factory stress fracturing. The polycarbonate outer lens has developed clean, horizontal hairline cracks originating directly from the sealed lower edge where the housing meets the internal bumper brackets. This structural failure has breached the factory seal, causing severe water pooling inside the light assembly. Yes, the vehicle and the failing component are available for inspection upon request. The severe water accumulation inside the headlamp assembly poses an immediate night-driving safety hazard. Moisture intrusion directly exposes critical electrical connections and LED components to pooling water, risking a sudden, catastrophic short-circuit and total headlight failure while driving at night. This would instantly compromise forward visibility and reduce the vehicle's visibility to oncoming traffic. Yes. The physical water accumulation and the structural hairline cracks were confirmed during a physical inspection at an authorized Genesis dealership service center. The dealership confirmed the presence of the moisture breach but attributed the damage to external influence, despite a total lack of any external impact marks. Yes, it has been inspected by the manufacturer. Visual photographic evidence of the failing headlamp component was formally escalated to Genesis Corporate Customer Care (Case #43274801). The corporate case manager conducted a digital review of the component and subsequently sided with the local dealership's denial of warranty coverage. There were no dashboard warning lights or prior to the failure. The first physical symptom appeared (cracks) appeared recently, but condensation was present at purchased. Upon closer inspection of the pooling water, the clean horizontal stress fractures along the bumper seam became visible.

Summary
While driving to work, my 2020 Kia Optima suddenly lost engine power and went into limp mode in the middle of the highway, leaving me stranded and creating a severe safety hazard in traffic. The check engine light immediately started flashing and displaying diagnostic code P1326 which indicates an abnormal engine and/or a catastrophic rod bearing failure. This problem has been confirmed by the Kia dealership along with a 3rd party auto repair shop. However, Kia is refusing to cover the inspection, diagnostic, or any repairs due to the vehicle not having any open recalls, having more than 100k miles and the model of my vehicle despite this being a well known and documented manufacturing defect issue to these engines. We were sold a 2022 ZR2 1500 Chevy pickup on 8/14/2026. The dealer disclosed "unknown" on the used car buyer disclosure form. By admission of service department this truck's engine seized in March 2026. A replacement engine was ordered, placed on back order, and arrived to the dealership in August 2026. The service department believed that the repair was done and finished on 8/14/2026, the same date as the purchase. On 8/30/2026, the truck was not running properly, not moving forward despite pressing on the gas, and lots of instrument panel lights. The truck was towed to the dealership and "fixed" They claim it was a fuel injector and separate from the issue regarding the engine.
