Summary
My vehicle has an active, federally mandated safety recall for a fuel rail leak (Recall 24Gi / 20V648000), which is a documented fire hazard. The vehicle now has an active "EPC" (Electronic Power Control) dashboard light and a fuel odor. When I called my local authorized Volkswagen dealership—Southern Team Volkswagen at 6520 Peters Creek Road in Roanoke, VA—to schedule the safety repair, the service department flat-out refused to take the vehicle. The representative stated that they "are not taking new clients" and "will not be repairing" the vehicle. They left me stranded with an active, dangerous safety hazard on my property and refused to comply with the federal recall mandate. When escalations were made to corporate, I was told my only option was to take the vehicle for an hour to Lynchburg, VA, at my expense. Because they don’t have a policy to pay for towing. I had to call the manufacturer and have them step in to “pull some strings” he said. Am currently waiting to hear back from them.

Summary
The rear subframe is defective and subject to premature corrosion and failure of parts that connect to the rear suspension. Due to the fracturing of the joints connecting to the suspension, my car was at risk of going out of control when needing to brake at higher speeds. The way the suspension component broke also risked damage to the gas tank if the car was driven over a large bump or pot hole. The problem was diagnosed by an independent repair service. The corrosion is not visible to an owner. It does not impact any body panels - only structural parts visible when the vehicle is on a lift. Mercedes Benz has provided an extended warranty for unlimited miles and 20 years to any owner of this model for a range of years and models. This was communicated to Mercedes Benz dealerships on March 10, 2023. However, since the vehicle is not subject to recall, I do not know how this was communicated to an owner. I did not receive anything alerting me to the problem. Mercedes Benz has my phone number on file.

The vehicle first experienced severe, violent jerking and slipping when shifting between the 4th & 5th gears. The vehicle was held by a Ford dealership for 21 days for this issue, but the repair failed. Two months after being out of the shop the transmission has rapidly degraded and is now actively experiencing the same severe, violent jerking and failing to engage in every single gear except 10th. The vehicle completely loses acceleration power while driving, creating an immediate crash hazard. Dealerships in my area are refusing to accept the vehicle for 2 to 3 weeks due to scheduling backlogs, leaving me with an active, dangerous powertrain failure under warranty.

The vehicle repeatedly displays a "Stop Vehicle and Check Brake System" warning together with an ABS warning, accompanied by a loss of normal braking response. On XXX, while driving at approximately 60 mph on I-85 northbound near Exit XXX in [XXX], the warnings appeared and the brakes did not respond normally. I was maintaining a substantial following distance, and the braking system restored itself before I reached the point of needing to brake hard, so no crash or injury occurred. Had hard braking been required in that window, I do not believe the vehicle would have stopped as commanded. This is a recurring fault. The vehicle, purchased certified pre-owned and still under the Hyundai factory warranty, has been taken to the dealer (Ed Voyles Hyundai, [XXX]) three times for the same condition. On the first visit the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) unit was replaced; on the second, the Smart Junction Box was replaced; on the third, the dealer removed an aftermarket tracking device wired to the data link connector and referenced Hyundai TSB 24-GI-011H, representing the problem as corrected. The braking-loss event on XXX occurred after that repair. The vehicle has been out of service approximately 30 days total. Because the failure is an intermittent loss of braking response at highway speed, I consider it a serious safety hazard and no longer drive the vehicle. When starting the truck on XXX, the transmission was stuck in 7th gear and would not reverse. It was one day out of the 5 year warranty period. Had it towed to Kendall Ford in [XXX]. They "found TSB 22-2428" and suspected an issue with the cdf cylinder. They determined that it was more cost effective to replace the transmission with a reconditioned one instead of repairing it. The total cost was about $9700. Because it was just out of warranty the dealership did give us a great discount, but we still ended up paying $2655 out of pocket. I also have a 2018 Mustang with the same 10 speed transmission. For the Mustang, I received a letter from Ford regarding Special Field Action 25L02 that provides a 7 year/70,000 mile warranty for similar transmission issues. I contacted Ford and they told me that there is no Special Field Action or Customer Satisfaction program for the F-150 transmission. I'm reporting this in the hopes that more people reporting problems with the 10 speed transmission will result in financial aid from Ford to cover the cost of transmission repairs on more vehicles than Mustangs.
