The repair quality of covered vehicles is extremely important to Toyota. All dealership technicians
performing this recall are required to successfully complete the most current version of the ELearning course “Safety Recall and Service Campaign Essentials”. To ensure that all vehicles have the
repair performed correctly; technicians performing this recall repair are required to complete the
following course:

It is the dealership’s responsibility to select technicians who have completed the above course to
perform this campaign repair. Carefully review your resources, the technician’s skill level, and ability
before assigning technicians to this repair. It is important to consider technician days off and
vacation schedules to ensure there are properly trained technicians available to perform this repair at
all times.

The subject vehicles are equipped with a GPS antenna wire harness which connects the antenna to the Data
Communication Module (DCM). Due to the design of the wire harness, the GPS antenna will not receive power
and will be inoperable when the vehicle is off. As a result, the vehicle location cannot be identified through stolen
vehicle location services when the vehicle is off.

Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

REMOVE LOWER CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL
Open the glove compartment door assembly.
Apply protective tape to the area shown in the illustration.
Using a trim tool, disengage the 5 clips and 5 guides in the order shown in the illustration to remove the
lower center instrument panel finish panel.

Apply protective tape to the area shown in the illustration.
Using a trim tool, disengage the 5 clips as shown in the illustration.
Disengage the 3 guides to remove the No. 2 instrument side panel as shown in the illustration.

VII. CHANGE THE TERMINAL LOCATION OF THE ANTENNA CORD SUB-ASSEMBLY
CONNECTOR
1.

PROTECT INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT ASSEMBLY
The brackets on the instrument panel reinforcement assembly may be sharp. Protect the locations
shown of the instrument panel reinforcement assembly using protective tape to prevent injury.

2.

DISCONNECT THE GROUND WIRE
Remove the bolt to disconnect the ground wire.
