Purpose
This bulletin describes the procedure to install a rubber adhesive-backed door track landing pad that
limits how far the sliding door opens on affected Lineage LVT units. Limiting the door travel prevents the
interior door panel from rubbing against the exterior side pod, which over time can damage the paint.
NOTE: Actual color and finish of components may differ from those depicted in this document.

Background
Grand Design RV has received a small number of customer reports related to the interior panel that finishes the
interior side of the sliding door rubbing on the exterior side pod. If the door opens too far, the interior panel can
contact the exterior panel, and over time this contact can damage the paint. This condition was identified in the
factory and resolved on all units built after a certain date. This procedure limits the exposure of the interior and
exterior panels rubbing on units that exhibit this condition.

PINCH HAZARD. The sliding door is heavy and will be opened, closed, and repositioned
several times during this procedure. Keep hands and fingers clear of the door jamb and
pinch points when moving the door.

Instructions — Measure for Proper Installation

NOTE

Important! For best results, wash the right (passenger) side of the van before beginning,
focusing on the area covered by the sliding door when it is open. The landing pad
adhesive will not bond properly to a dirty surface.

Step 1 — Place an 8"–10" piece of masking tape in approximately the location indicated in the
reference photo (green rectangle).

Step 2 — Fully open the sliding door.
Step 3 — With the door fully open, mark the center of the sliding door roller on the masking tape
applied in Step 1.
Step 4 — Reposition the sliding door until the interior panel just starts to contact the exterior panel.

Step 5 — With the door in that position, measure the distance from the C-pillar door jamb to the
rubber sliding door stop. Record this dimension.
Note: Example: 3-3/4".

Step 6 — Add 1/2" to the recorded dimension. This result is the dimension used to locate the landing
pad.
Note: Example: 3-3/4" + 1/2" = 4-1/4".

Step 7 — Shut the van door and make the center mark on the masking tape. This center line should
measure 1/2" closer to the front of the van than the roller center mark from Step 3.
Step 8 — Double-check the mark: measure from the black door roller track end to the center mark. The
center mark and the measurement should align.
Note: If the measurement does not reach the mark, use the mark. If the measurement is beyond the mark,
make a new mark using the measurement.

Instructions — Install the Landing Pad
Step 1 — With the sliding door closed, use the alcohol swab to clean an area of the landing surface
roughly the length of the masking tape applied in Section 1.
Note: Allow the cleaned surface to dry fully before applying the pad.

Step 2 — Remove the protective cover to expose the adhesive back of the rubber landing pad.
Step 3 — Hold the landing pad just above the landing surface with the middle of the pad aligned to the
center mark, then press it firmly in place.

Verification
Before returning the unit to service, verify the following:

The landing surface was cleaned with the alcohol swab and allowed to dry before the pad was applied.

The middle of the landing pad is aligned with the verified center mark.
The landing pad is pressed firmly and fully adhered along its length.
With the pad installed, the sliding door stops before the interior panel contacts the exterior side pod.
Open and close the sliding door several times to confirm the door travel is limited and no panel rubbing
occurs.
