CAUSE
Unfavorable logic in the LED control unit hub.

CORRECTION
Follow the test plan to encode the LED control unit hub.

PROCEDURE
Determine the vehicle’s current I-level by either using AIR or the Key Reader/AWP (Aftersales Workplace)
applications.
If the I-level is …26-03-530 or higher, then continue below with standard diagnosis.
Using ISTA Diagnosis
1. Verify the customer’s concern.

If the vehicle cannot be parked in an area with low ambient lighting to easily view some of the affected
lighting strips, hold a medium-size piece of cardboard over the area to provide cover
2. Connect an approved BMW battery charger /power supply to the vehicle (SI B04 23 10).
3. Connect the vehicle to ISTA and perform a vehicle test.

4. Read fault codes from the vehicle.
5. Perform BCP Control unit reset.

6. Perform NAD (node address device) Encoding Service Function (ABL-DITAS6300_NAD_CODIEREN) using ISTA 4.58.2x or higher located using following path below:

7. Clear all the faults in the vehicle, allow sleep cycle to take place, and check operation of interior ambient lightning.

Using Remote Diagnosis with RITA
1. Verify the customer’s concern to confirm that ambient lightning is not functioning properly.
2. Connect the vehicle to RITA and perform a remote diagnostic test.
3. Read out fault codes from the vehicle.
4. Perform the NAD Encoding service function (ABL-DIT-AS6300_NAD_CODIEREN), for the LIN node “slave module”
addresses.
5. Clear all the faults in the vehicle, allow the sleep cycle to take place, and check the operation of the interior ambient
lightning.

If the I-level is lower than …26-03-530:
Program the vehicle to I-level …26-03-530 or higher using ISTA 4.58.2x (released on March 3, 2026) or
higher.
Connect the battery charger to the vehicle
Connect the programming system to the vehicle (ISTA 4)
Determine measures plan
Accept and fully work through the measures plan with the control units to be programmed/encoded
and enabled
Follow the rework list
Depending on the rework list, carry out a vehicle test and delete the fault memory if needed
After the programming has been completed, check operation of all the individual ambient lighting elements
that they are working and displaying properly.
Note: ISTA will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the
latest software.
Always connect a BMW-approved battery charger/power supply (SI B04 23 10).

plans, and/or other approved diagnosis procedures, claim this work with the applicable Repair Code listed in
AIR together with the corresponding labor operation codes and their flat rate unit (FRU) allowance(s),
including the diagnosis* that applies.
BMW Group’s AIR Application Resource for Flat Rate Labor Operation Codes
To obtain the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance information from the BMW Group AIR application
resource, start by entering the Chassis Number (last seven (7) characters of the VIN), and click on the
“Search” icon. If the “Vehicle Selection” window displays two or more model possible vehicle choices, select
the applicable Model, or enter the full VIN (17 characters) instead to proceed. Click on the “Flat Rate Units”
button and enter a flat rate labor operation code number “without spaces” in the field to the right, click on the
“Search” icon to display the corresponding listing of “Flat rate unit group details” that are available and their
corresponding FRU allowances.
