Summary
Some vehicles listed below may exhibit an intermittent airbag warning light and DTC(s) B1763 (OCS ECU Defect), and/or B1764 (OCS Mat Defect) may be stored. Hyundai
is extending the warranty coverage of the sensor for the Occupant Classification System (OCS) / Occupant Detection System (ODS) to 18 years/unlimited mileage from the date of original retail delivery or date of first use (whichever occurs first) and is valid for original and subsequent owners. Refer to the warranty and parts information outlilned in this bulletin. This bulletin contains the procedure to inspect for the airbag warning light and DTC(s), replace the OCS (ODS) unit or wire harness, reset the OCS (ODS), and initialize the power seat module (if applicable). This TSB also contains the procedure to replace the OCS (ODS) mat if DTCs exist after replacement of the OCS (ODS) wire harness.

eyelets (F) (covered by left hand in photo),
unplug the sensor receptacle terminal (brown
wire) (G) from the sensor.

While firmly grasping the blade terminal
eyelets, unplug the shield receptacle terminal
(blue wire) (H) from the sensor.
Cut off the label (I) from the old harness using
scissors or a utility knife. Then discard the old
harness.

number, and part number on the cut-off
label.

Firmly adhere the old sensor label (I) to the
adhesive side of the new harness label.
13.
Temporarily position the new harness wires on
the sensor tail as shown.
14.
Move the blue wire to the other side so the
sensor tail is between the harness wires.
15.
Position the harness with a maximum space of
5 mm between the end of the sensor tail and
the start of the heat shrink tubing (J) on the
brown wire.

While maintaining the shape and position of
the brown wire, remove the adhesive liner from
the new wire harness felt pad.

Center and attach the edge of the new felt pad
(M) between the alignment marks on the
sensor tail as shown.

On the other side of the felt pad, loop the blue
wire (N) within the width of the sensor tail.

Fold over the other side of the felt pad to
overlap the first fold. Press on the felt pad to
ensure it is firmly adhered to the sensor tail.

Reinstall all parts in the reverse order of the
removal process.
25.
Reconnect the negative (–) battery terminal,
and reset customer’s radio presets, if
necessary.
26.
Confirm proper operation of the Occupant
Classification System.
• Turn ON the ignition switch.
The SRS light should come ON for about 6
seconds, and then go OFF.
• The airbag warning light should turn ON
for 4 seconds and then OFF for
3 seconds. The light should remain OFF.
This indicates the passenger airbag is
enabled.

Check for DTCs.
• If any DTCs or issues are found, proceed
to OCS (PODS-F) Mat Replacement.
• If proper operation is confirmed, and NO
DTCs are found, proceed to
OCS (PODS-F) Reset Procedure on
page 21.
OCS (PODS-F) Mat Replacement
1.
Record customer’s radio presets, if necessary,
then disconnect the negative (–) battery cable.
Refer to Shop Manual:

! CAUTION
Wait at least three minutes before
beginning work after disconnecting the
negative battery cable.

Remove the passenger side front seat

Confirm proper operation of the Occupant
Classification System.
• Turn ON the ignition switch.
The SRS light should come ON for about
6 seconds, and then go OFF.
• The airbag warning light should turn ON

This indicates the passenger airbag is
enabled.

OCS (PODS-F) Reset Procedure
1.
Turn ignition OFF, then connect GDS.
2.
Turn ignition ON, engine OFF, select S/W
Management and then select car model.
3.
Select ODS – PODS - F and then PODS
Reset.
4.
Perform the PODS Reset procedure according
to the instructions on GDS.
5.
After the procedure, erase all DTCs related to
the SRSCM and the OCS (ODS) sensor unit.
6.
If vehicle has a power seat, proceed to Power
Seat Module Initialization.
If vehicle does NOT have a power seat, the
service procedure is complete.
