Front Brake Pad / Design Change
SUBJECT:
INTRODUCTION:
This bulletin announces a design change to the front brake pads. The brake pads have been
redesigned with a new friction material and shape. This change is intended to enhance the removal
of rust and debris that can accumulate on the rotor surface, causing unevenness. These parts were
developed to address judder/vibration concerns only. If a customer reports judder/vibration during
braking and it is determined to originate from the front brakes, perform the procedure outlined in this
bulletin.
PRODUCTION CHANGE INFORMATION:
The new brake pads have been incorporated into production as per the chart below.

The redesigned brake pads are marked with a green rectangle on the top side of the pad, as shown in
the image below.
SERVICE PROCEDURE / INFORMATION:
REMINDER: Customer satisfaction and retention starts with performing quality repairs.
Step 1: Inspect Front Rotors
•
Carefully examine the front brake rotors to determine their condition.
•
Check for excessive wear, scoring, cracks, warpage or thickness below the minimum
specification.
•
Determine whether the rotors can be resurfaced or if replacement is required.
Step 2: Resurface or Replace Rotors and Install New Brake Pads
The service procedures for front brake pads remain unchanged. Always refer to the applicable
Service Manual and review the full requirements of the repair being performed. The Service
Manual procedures contain information critical to performing an effective repair the first time, every
time. This includes but is not limited to important SAFETY precautions, proper inspection criteria,
necessary special tools, required processes and related one-time-use parts needed for a complete and
lasting repair.
