also sound.

Technical Background
The following information can be found in the Owner's Manual:
“If you opened one of the rear doors, this message will remind you at the end of the journey that there may be
someone in one of the rear seats. Make sure that you do not leave any children or animals behind when you leave
the vehicle.”

Why does this function exist?
Unfortunately, statistics from around the world show that there are repeated cases where people and animals suffer
fatal injuries because they are left inside vehicles at high temperatures. To help prevent such tragic incidents and to
avoid harm to the driver and passengers, many Audi models have been equipped with the first generation of the rear
occupant detection as standard since model year 2024.

How does the rear occupant detection 1.0 work?

+ Ifarear door is opened/closed within 10 minutes before the ignition is switched on (or when the ignition is
already on), a warning event is detected.

+ When a warning event has been detected, the driver is shown the following message at the end of the journey
(usually when the ignition is switched off): “Please check rear seats!”. Depending on the model and country, a
warning tone may also be emitted.

+ The warning event is deleted once both rear doors have been closed for 10 minutes AND the ignition is
switched off.

+ This means that if the ignition is switched on again within 10 minutes and the vehicle is driven further (e.g.
after a brief break at service station), the warning event remains active even if the rear door has not been
opened again.

+ At the end of the next journey, the message appears again in the instrument cluster.

+ Warning tone: Depending on the model and country, there may be an option to switch the warning tone on/off
in the vehicle menu.

+ Definition of end of journey (for all models): When the ignition is switched off.

+ Special case — e-tron GT (due to different exit concept): Driver's door is closed AND ignition is switched off /
driver's door is opened AND ignition is switched on.

+ Depending on the model and country, the message “Please check rear seats!” may also appear in on the
goodbye screen on the center display regardless of whether the rear doors are opened.
