NOTICE
This technical bulletin must be read in its entirety before attempting the software update.
– If software updates or flash campaigns/actions are performed on a vehicle, a charger with at least 70A
charging current MUST be connected to the vehicle’s 12-volt battery in order to avoid problems during
the updates and flash campaigns/actions.

Technical Background
For MY21-25 ID.4 vehicles that are updated to ID.S compound 3.8.11 via campaign update OUE7, if after
performing the update, it becomes necessary at any point to replace the ICAS3 (-J794-), the spare part
received will require an update to software version 1771.
Spare parts with SW 1771 are not manufactured, so this update is necessary following any replacement as
specified above. The spare part 10A.035.842.M (SW 1741) must be ordered and installed, then updated to
SW 1771, which will update the part number to 10A.035.842.P. This procedure ensures the vehicle is at the
correct compound.

Refer to Technical Bulletin 2054866 (00-19-04) Set Up SD/USB Creator to Obtain Software Updates.
Create USB part number 3G8.919.360.DF.
Begin with the new Information Electronics Module 1 -J794- (ICAS3) part number 10A.035.842.M installed in
the vehicle.
Connect the VAG5908 to the vehicle’s 12-volt battery.
Ensure that nothing is connected to the vehicle’s DLC (Data Link Connector).
Place one of the vehicle keys over the reader coil in the center console cup holder. Any additional keys must
be a minimum of 20 meters away from the vehicle.
Insert USB 3G8.919.360.DF into one of the vehicle’s USB ports. Leave the USB in the drive until the entire
update is complete.
Switch the ignition ON.
Switch on the hazard flashers and leave them on during the entire flash process.
Open the driver’s door.
Buckle the driver’s seatbelt.
The update will now begin automatically. During the update, multiple messages will be displayed in the MIB
display and instrument cluster.
The software update is finished when a successful completion message is displayed on the instrument
cluster.
Once complete, remove the USB.
Connect the ODIS tester to the vehicle’s DLC.
Perform GFF test plan 005F – Replace control module.
Ensure that the test plan completes in its entirety. Failure to ensure the completion of the test plan could
affect proper activation and configuration of the ICAS3.
