Dealer Colleagues, Mazda Motor Corporation has made a change regarding related parts to TSB 01-001/26 which also impacts Warranty Extension Special Service Program (SSPD8). Parts Ordering and Warranty Claims: Effective March 5, 2026 only the related parts kit PYY2-15-SAY can be ordered and claimed for any repair. The two separate parts PYFB-15-169 and PE13-15-296 can no longer be claimed with repaired dates of March 5, 2026 and later. There is no change to the main part, the Plug PYY3-15-SA1. We have updated the TSB 01-001/26 and SSPD8 Repair Procedure and Parts & Warranty Information on Mazda Global Service Support (MGSS) to reflect this change.

SSPD8 - ENGINE TEMPERATURE AND HEATER PERFORMANCE CONCERNS WITH OR
WITHOUT DTC P0126:00
Updated 3/4/2026:
• All repairs March 5, 2026 and later must claim the related parts kit
PYY2-15-SAY.
• Please follow all updated diagnosis and guidelines in the
TSB 01-004/26 or any future updated version of the TSB.
Dummy Plug repair – (MUST READ FLOW CHART - beginning on page 3).
WARRANTY EXTENSION
For certain 2018-2025MY CX-5, 2019-2023MY Mazda3, 2019-2022MY CX-3, 2018-2021MY
Mazda6, 2020-2023MY CX-30 that are equipped with the suspected coolant control valve, the
warranty coverage for specific repair of the fail-safe thermostat (now dummy plug with PCM update) is
extended to: 15 years (180 months) or 150,000 miles (240,000 km) whichever comes first, from the
original warranty start date.
LIMITATION OF WARRANTY – VEHICLE BRANDING – WARRANTY POLICY 3.4
For any Mazda Warranty including Warranty Extensions there is no coverage as outlined in “What Is Not
Covered” in the Customer Warranty Booklet. There is no coverage for W-1 Total Loss vehicles or other
Mazda Branding (W5) Engine or Powertrain (W8) as outlined in Warranty Policy 3.4.
CONDITION OF CONCERN – PLEASE FOLLOW THE DIAGNOSIS GUIDELINES
On certain subject vehicles, the check engine light is illuminated with OR without DTC P0126:00 and
one or more of the following symptoms may occur:
- Engine takes longer to warm up.
- Engine temperature gauge fluctuates.
- Low coolant temperature indicator (blue) light stays on longer or turns on while driving.
- Poor heater performance, especially at idle.

OWNER NOTIFICATION
Mazda began notifying all U.S. owners of the subject vehicles by first class mail in November 2024.
Owners for certain CX-5 vehicles were notified in March 2025.
Owners have been advised that they do not need to bring their vehicle to a dealer if it does
not exhibit the affected condition.
Owners have also been advised that any previous repair on the fail-safe thermostat or coolant
control valve due to similar concern of this SSP will be eligible for reimbursement if the repair was
performed at the owner’s expense. Please refer the customer to the Owner Letter for
reimbursement instructions.

REPAIR PROCEDURE – FLOW CHART
Section A: Flow Chart:
NOTE: This Flow Chart needs to be followed strictly.
Determine the version of Mazda Connect, then proceed to repair.
NOTE this is a generic list of models updated by IDS not specific to
this repair. DTC P0126:00 is not required to be present to perform
this repair.
If the version is 6th Generation TYPE A - Use IDS*
except *2019-2022 CX-3 must use MDARS

If the version is 7th Generation TYPE B - Use MDARS
FOR 2019-2022 CX-3 use MDARS
The dummy plug and PCM update repair procedure are required as of December 8, 2025. The TSB
has been updated to repair with the dummy plug and PCM update here: 6.
REPAIR PROCEDURE - INSTRUCTIONS
If you receive customer complaints about the check engine light ON WITH or WITHOUT DTC
P0126:00, or with poor heater performance with any of the symptoms mentioned in the TSB
documentation, verify the concerns and perform appropriate repair according to the
Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) No. 01-004/26.

DUMMY PLUG AND PCM UPDATE WARRANTY CLAIM PROCESSING INFORMATION:
Note:
This warranty information is applicable to the repair of the subject vehicle beyond Powertrain
Warranty period and the fail-safe dummy plug is replaced and PCM software update is completed
due to the concern related to this SSPD8.
The repair on the subject vehicle within Powertrain Warranty should be claimed under normal
warranty according to the Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) 01-004/26.
This warranty information is applicable only to the repair related with or without DTC P0126:00
and related symptoms.
VITALLY IMPORTANT: There must be a “Software Update” record for the PCM when using MDARS or IDS.
•
MDARS - If there is no Software Update entry in MDARS or the Collect Diagnostic
Information (ODR Update) is not completed (or both), the vehicle will not be considered
repaired and the warranty claim will be rejected. The vehicle will need to be returned for a
re-repair at the dealer expense.
•
IDS – Vehicles programed with IDS must collect the Session Log Data (also known as Log
Viewer), and that data must be printed and attached to the warranty claim. If the data is not
attached to the claim, the vehicle will not be considered repaired and the warranty claim will
be rejected, denied or debited. The vehicle will need to be returned for a re-repair at the
dealer expense.
Failure to complete the above will require the vehicle to return to the dealership and be re-repaired at the
dealer’s expense with great inconvenience to the Mazda customer. Failure to perform the software update
could also potentially damage the engine which would not be covered by warranty and would expose
your dealership to the cost of repairs. (1) Please wait up to 30 minutes after completing the SSPD8
operation before submitting the warranty claim.

quantity limit helps to ensure our supply is balanced across the U.S. dealer network and available for
all customers.

RENTAL CAR INFORMATION
Rental expenses exceeding the two-day limit or over the per day limit set by Mazda Warranty policy
will require prior Warranty Department Authorization prior to giving the rental to the customer
regardless of the reason. Please refer to the Mazda Rental Car Reimbursement Program policy in
the Mazda Warranty Policies and Procedures Manual.
Mazda recommends the usage of the MCVP loaner vehicle when available. If all MCVP loaner vehicles
are in use and unavailable, and the customer needs a rental car, then use your local rental facility and
offer a rental car. Be sure that every effort is made to repair the car within one business day or less, so
the next customer can receive the same experience.
