Service Procedure
1. Perform the one-way clutch directional test.
(1). Remove the transmission fluid pump to access the rotating assembly through the bottom of the transmission
case. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.
(2). Hold the clutch and planetary container cylinder (Figure 1, Callout 1) stationary while rotating the No. 1 ring
gear (Figure 1, Callout 2) in the arrow direction shown in Figure 1 to verify the one-way clutch rotates freely and
smoothly. While holding the clutch and planetary container cylinder (Figure 1, Callout 1) stationary, try rotating the
No. 1 ring gear (Figure 1, Callout 2) in the opposite direction of the arrow shown in Figure 1 to verify the one-way
clutch is holding.

Front Support Replacement Procedure
1. Install the transmission fluid pan and bolts.
NOTE: It is not necessary to torque the fluid pan bolts at this time.
2. Remove the transmission and mount the transmission to the bench. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.
3. Remove and discard the front support assembly. Perform only the necessary steps to remove and replace the front
support assembly. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.
(1). It is only necessary to remove the torque converter/(hybrid
drive unit (HDU) for 10R80 MHT), the main control,
and the transmission fluid pump to remove the front support.
4. Inspect other transmission components for damage and replace if necessary (7H351 and 7B177).
5. Perform the T3 selective shim measurement and install the new front support assembly. Refer to WSM, Section
307-01.
6. Reassemble the transmission. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.
7. Install the transmission. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.
8. Perform an adaptive learning drive cycle. Refer to WSM, Section 307-01.
NOTE: Advise the customer that this vehicle is equipped with an adaptive transmission shift strategy which
allows the vehicle's computer to learn the transmission's unique parameters and improve shift quality. When
the adaptive strategy is reset, the computer will begin a relearning process. This relearning process may
result in firmer than normal upshifts and downshifts for several days.
